FINALLY! Images of Dragonball and Z Manga Boxsets!
*puts on x-mas list and tallies which are edited and which aren't* I'll know which to replace, can't be that hard to find the right ones.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
maybe contact Viz?
I'm just glad people are reacting well to the boxes. I know I thought they were killer designs. I love how the keep using the dragon from the first daizenshuu on all the new releases (the Vizbigs, these boxes) it's pretty cool.

Do they still offer the display cases with the send-away pages in the manga?Kendamu wrote:I wonder if I can get just the boxes (since I have all of the manga).

That ended along time ago, but I would really hate to order the Z box set just for the box.bkev wrote:Do they still offer the display cases with the send-away pages in the manga?Kendamu wrote:I wonder if I can get just the boxes (since I have all of the manga).
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

Damn these look good. I have all of the manga, though. It wouldn't make sense to buy the same B&W manga all over again, since Kaboom said they were the same. I'll just have the same versions altogether.

Wow, those boxes look phenomenal, the Z box has some of my favourite art from Daizenshuu 1.
Last time I saw these in my local comic book store preview magazine, they were in ugly tin lunch boxes, it's nice to see they've decided on something else.
If these had the paper quality of the Vizbig, I would totally jump ship.

Pros:
The use of the picture of Shenlong in the background of each box (reminds me of the Daizenshuu).
Cons:
The same picture of Shenlong was used for each set.
The image of Shenlong is yellowish for one set and greyish for the other.
Suggestions:
A nice sequential image that is half on the Z set and half on the DB set that is completed when the sets are aligned would have been nice (like on the actaul spines of the tankoubon).

Don't forget on the "cons" that it keeps getting delayed.

As far as we know it just contains the normal, edited, B&W paperback tankoubon.LeprikanGT wrote:Do those come with the books just like if i went and bought them as well as the box or is it different papers and coloring and all that?

The censorship isn't all that big. A few blasters, less Bulma-boobs, and #17 punching through a guy's head instead of putting a bullet in him. Those are the biggest things I can think of.Raki wrote:I'm not really into all that big cenorship, so I'll get the second edition of the Manga along with the Kanzenban.
EDIT: Oh, and lipless Mr. Popo. That part is kinda weird.
