FUNimation might get around to acquiring and releasing the Dragonbox footage after they get everything else they're doing done. I'm not gonna hold my breath, though.
I would expect to eventually see Blu-Ray releases of the Season Sets. First, though, they need to make sure everyone buys the DVD version before going back and saying, "ZOMG true HD this time for realz on Bloo-Rae!!!"
Also, if the rumors are true, Dragonball will get a re-release in Season Set format within the next couple of years. Its a long wait, but at least its not that everything is coming out at once. I already have enough catching up to do now that I've come to terms with the Season Sets.
By coming to terms, I mean to say that I said, "Fuck it," and moved on with life because I like the manga better and I only care enough about the anime to need perfect picture quality for about 23 episodes (0.05% of the series not counting GT).

Unless this has anything fixed, it's a completely useless buy.

Amazon has lots of pages like that, even if the release isn't announced. The Time Traveller wrote:Ahem...Kendamu wrote:I would expect to eventually see Blu-Ray releases of the Season Sets. Amazon's guess is as good as anybody's, I remember one of these pages was up for at least a couple years before an actual relase came out.

1) Because they've said in several trailers that they've remastered it in HD, yet we're getting regular DVDs out of it. Its a useless piece of fluff to put in the advertisements to hype up something we're not even getting.disturbed001 wrote:Nothing against you of course, but why does everyone do this? ^Kendamu wrote: "ZOMG true HD this time for realz on Bloo-Rae!!!"
I just don't get it.
2) Because I feel the need to poke fun at them for it to show that, while I think its dumb to not release the DVD and Blu-Ray versions simultaneously, I'm not angry over it.

Depending on how many times an item has been searched on amazon, they will put up a page for it. Look up "Star Wars bluray" you'll see 2 pages that have been there for years. The Time Traveller wrote:Ahem...Kendamu wrote:I would expect to eventually see Blu-Ray releases of the Season Sets. They will probably release it on Blu-Ray though. First gotta soak up as much money with the DVDs, then say, "Hey guys. Guess what. Remember the Dragon Ball Season Sets? Well get ready for the next era that will blow your minds from the Dragon Ball world! In Blu-Ray!" Yippie, all is well, except whether it's DVD, Blu-Ray, VHS, HD-DVD, or a piece of film being put through a projector, the problems will REMAIN the same. It's chopped up at the top and bottom, and the colors are faded, and the lines disappear. The movies look great, but the series looks like crap...well, at least the first few "Seasons". I don't care what you put it on, it'll still have that. Unless they go back and redo it, but that's just entirely way too much work. If it sells, screw it.
There would only be like 4 seasons for Dragonball. Not much time to fix problems. But they should just get the Dragonbox masters for Dragonball. The only thing they would have to do is dub and sub the next episode previews.TheGreatness25 wrote:They will probably release it on Blu-Ray though. The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

If Toei gave it to some hole in the wall company, why not Funimation? It's pretty much a lock that Funimation makes the most money out of all Toei's Dragonball license partners.TheGreatness25 wrote:They aren't going to use Dragon Box footage. And why would Toei even give it to them in the first place? When you say, "They should just use Dragon Box footage", it's not quite as simple as them buying the DVDs and putting an English track on it, releasing it as their own.

The Dragon Box film is the almost perfect, it's everything Funimation wants to be. The only thing that sucks about is no English subs! But otherwise, a perfect product.jaywonder wrote:how different is the Dragonbox footage?TheGreatness25 wrote:Who did Toei give the Dragon Box footage to?
and I'd love to see Dr Slump released in the states
You could get the Dr. Slump manga (Viz).
