Personally, I think Son Goten’s Super Saiyan hairstyle in GT was a big improvement compared to the one he had in Z when he was younger. We saw enough of that hair with Kakarrot transforming every 5 minutes.

The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

I think that may be one of my favorite SS hair styles out of them all; definitely top 3,

I liked SS3 hair BUT you have to catch it at the right scene - ss3 gotenks had some god aweful looking ss3 hair at times.

USS Vegeta had some pretty sweet hair.

I'm pretty sure a full-blooded saiyans hair stays the same length. Style can be changed. And if the saiyans hair is cut, i would think it would grow normally, it would just stop at the fixed length.

But also aren't pure-bred saiyans supposed to have dark black(brown?) hair? I thought I read that somewhere. If that is the case then any traits that Goku and Vegeta have can easily be minupulated for their half-blood offsprings considering trunks was born with purple hair.

Am I misinformed or can someone else second me on this?

Pretty much. Vegeta trims down his hair early in GT and it starts growing back over the course of the series.

Well, Vegeta did mix traits with Bulma, and I'm not gonna speculate on the genetic of anime hair colors.

Based on the fact that we never see his hair change even once throughout an entire arc and in four different movie appearances-- until the end of Z-- I tend to look at Goten's as a naturally-occuring style. Counting the ending animation to Movie 11, we see the hair consistently mirror Goku's at various stages of Goten's early life without any discernible difference at any time (and if we count the upcoming special, then it's AGAIN exactly the same when he's two years older following the events of Boo). Notice that he has that hair during infancy, even. I doubt that Chichi was that grief-stricken over her husband's death that she took a pair of shears to Goten's hair immediately after he was born.

Though as to whether or not she had to clip it in order to keep it that way is anyone's guess. If the "recessive" tails are a hit-and-miss thing, then by the same token perhaps not ALL half-breeds' DNA omits the hair trait; maybe Goten retained that respective gene from his father so that it never changed on its own. Or maybe the hair really did keep growing a la Gohan's, forcing the occasional trim.

Really, who's to know for sure?

I like to think that, when he was a kid, and it got to the length that it was that it grew out naturally like Goku's. Otherwise it would seem that Chichi and Gohan might have been in need of some therapy if it was purposefully done. Unlike full blooded saiyans, the hybrids don't have consistent hair dos so maybe, as Goten got older it looked less and less liked Goku's, plus he wanted maybe a more "in" look being a teen and all.

I actually loved his hair. To be honest his hair and Yamchas long hair were my favorite styles in the series.
