I may have to buy these, granted somebody can provide high-quality scans of the stuff that's censored out, Bulma's jubblies being #1 on that list. ;)

If they are coming out February 3rd, that's two days before my birthday, so perhaps I can persuade my family and friends to all pitch in and buy me the Dragon Ball box.

Since this is kinda the new Viz manga thread (and since the VizBigs are mentioned in the first post), I'll just post this here.

'Kay, got a couple things.

First of all, so I was at my Borders today and they had the hardcover collector's editions in early. Since the DBZ VizBig already had all of the color pages for its first volume, I only looked through the Dragon Ball one. Now, to get to the two things everybody cares about most...

1.) It's still censored.

2.) It actually had ALL of the color pages.

Bulma's still covered in suds during her bath scene. As far as the color pages go, I can't say that I did the most thorough examination, but I'm pretty sure I can safely say that all of the color pages were there. Well, okay, I admit I didn't check the chapter title page gallery, but the actual chapters were all in color where necessary. It looked great.

The next thing concerns Dragon Ball VizBig volume two. I know we got little reviews for DBZ 1-2 and DB 1, but I don't think anybody ever provided a rundown of DB 2. Here ya go.

Editing-wise, it's the same as the original tankobon, I think. I haven't read the whole thing, but I've spot checked it. All of the original Viz changes are intact. None of it's artwork edits; just dialogue. The major stuff's name changes.

- Sergeant Metallic is renamed "Full Metal Jacket."
- Goku's nickname for Artificial Human #8 is changed from "Ha-Chan" to "8-Man."
- The monster known as "Buyo" or "Buyon" is changed to "The Jiggler."

Regarding color pages, here's what's colored.

- Chapter 44, except for the first three full-color pages.
- Chapter 45.
- Chapter 57, except for the first three pages.
- Chapter 62.
- The title page for chapter 70.

And that's it for this book's chapters. The other color pages are in good ol' black-&-white. Oh well. I'm used to it by now.

And while I'm here, I really like the VizBig cover for Dragon Ball volume four, but DBZ five is just random. Goku isn't dead in those chapters, nor is he a Super Saiyan 2. Silly Viz.

>_____________>. I knew not to expect anything good from them.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
