You missed this part.

I didn't miss it, I just don't see how that's relevant.
I'd say we all have reasons to get pissy once in a while. To the point JAPPO went in that part I quoted though?

Not saying I'm for him getting banned or anything. I don't really care either way. But I found your defense of him to be far from convincing...

Greatest. Statement. Ever.
VegettoEX wrote:So what are everyone's thoughts?

I don't really know who this "JAPPO" person is (beyond seeing them post here occasionally regarding movie stuff), but it's pretty obvious where all of these threads end up each and every time. There are two identical factors in each and every case, common across all of these threads:

(1) It's a live-action movie thread
(2) This "JAPPO" person either starts the thread or contributes

That leads me to a pretty obvious conclusion (which I would assume anyone with half a mind could also draw), but I'm extremely interested in hearing additional opinions. This is a community, and the community is welcome to express their opinions.
I've got to say that banning him would be unfair. Regardless of how much I loathe his views. He's not a flamer, he's just a Live Action Movie supporter. Albiet it's rather foolish of him to play these games in a community which is primarily against the movie. But still, he's discussing DragonBall and hasn't really done anything wrong.

While it's hard to say you don't have good points about JAPPO, he deserves the same amount of level-headed respect as everyone else. At the end of the day, he is another member of the community, and the derisive words aren't really necessary. =/
I have to give it to Dragonball purists for being the most hostile group of fanboys I've seen. Even more so than... *shivers* twilighters.
You do know about the Naruto fanbase right? If people don't like the idea of a live action movie, it's them. No need to drop the f bomb.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

He's bringing himself to report news on the movie in a place that's usually overwhelmingly and needlessly negative about it, which gets him a lot of extra flak in addition to the amount he already gets from people at his own website (which isn't a "pro-movie crowd only" club or anything, FYI). So I'd say his occasional bouts of frustration are a good deal more justifiable than those of his attackers.

And though he certainly could have been more tactful about it, his statement you quoted is a good point.

Regardless, EVERYONE needs to just calm the hell down on the subject, instead of baiting and taunting each other constantly. In the end, it's just a movie made out of a cartoon. It does not deserve the venomous hate, and it's not worth the constantly-escalating personal-level arguments, the potential bans, etc... I think I agree with Onikage, this thread should be locked before anything really regrettable happens.

OK, I guess there's no point discussing this any further with you...

Man...I mean...damn. I don't know what to say. He doesn't look like a Saiyan Ape. He looks ridiculous. It's really too bad some better people couldn't have made this movie. Like people that were hardcore fans. Poor Son Goku. The only fight he couldn't win was the one against Hollywood.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

If we're all here for a reason then I'm just visiting.

If it's held in your heart then you can't let go.

While that's been the tactic in the past, I continue to hope that people can simply conduct themselves in a fashion where "anything really regrettable" simply doesn't happen because... well... people don't act like they're on the internet hiding anonymously behind their computer monitors.

But I guess that's really difficult :).

Don't you all wish Toriyama would jump in Super Hero style and put a stop to this?

I'm not sure why people think Toriyama cares.
It's really too bad some better people couldn't have made this movie. Like people that were hardcore fans.
That would've been even worse. Hardcore fans don't know what the hell they want, as you can see whenever videogame makers listen to the fans.

No one actually thinks he does. That's why he's "Fantasy" Toriyama :P

If asked about the movie he'll just give the stereotypical polite Japanese man answer.

"I'm very happy that my series is being adapted into a Hollywood feature for so many people to see."

He might not even see it. Hell I don't even know if he watched the bulk of the Z Movies. (The later ones anyway)

Though actually we fans do know what we want. A FAITHFUL ADAPTION. If I wrote the script the characters would be portrayed faithfully, even if I changed up the storyline.

Considering DB Movie 4 did a similar thing I doubt the fans who actually knew what they were talking about would care. I could care less about the ignorant and arrogant group (95% of Americans 20 and under).

But Gozar...your 20 and under.

But seriously though, i don't think Mr. Toriyama knows what he want's with Dragon Ball anymore. It's like he just doesn't really care about it.

That being said though, he is working on Dragon Ball Online...

But I fall into the other 5%. I like to keep myself informed and not run my mouth unless I actually no what I'm talking about. Like I'd never comment on any comparisons between Spiderman, Batman, Superman, etc Vs. their comic originals because I am not into reading those comics. Therefore speaking like I did would be stupid.

I'd agree though about Toriyama. For the most part he's done with it. He's happy being mostly retired and just doing character designs.
