That's definitely Piccolo Sr's head-shape, but where's the rest of his right arm? Is that his elbow I'm looking at?
On hiatus.

Did someone call Chatku from off-screen?
Trying to be nice, I'd say he looks distracted.

Not trying to be nice, I'd say he looks retarded. Like he just realized he had fingernails or something.

On the positive side, it's nice that they seem to have gotten the shape of Piccolo's head right for the most part.
From my perspective, though, it's kind of like being glad your car has headlights while the wheels are shaped like squares.

Am I crazy, or does the picture look like Piccolo just fired his forearm off at Goku, like No.16's Rocket Punch?

Well, his arm is still there, but it almost looks as though he is shooting projectile fire or something. Either way I think it’s pretty dumb and not very Piccolo-y at all. But then, I’ve more or less come to expect that at this point.

I think a lot of people are rather shallow if all they want is the aesthetics to be 100% faithful. Well, I'm sorry, but that doesn't make a good movie.

What I want is a good script. Piccolo could be pink and wear a top hat if the script was good and he still acted like Piccolo. That's what's important... to me anyway.

For example, if Galactus was portrayed faithfully visually in Fantastic Four, would that make it a good movie? Hell no. It needed a good script. Galactus could be a little human girl if the script was good...

I think your problem at the moment, then, is that people are judging what they can see and what we know, so you get the impression that people only care about the aesthetics. We can't judge the script yet, can we?

You shouldn't expect more than an opinion on aesthetics in a thread about screen shots.

I’m sorry but both of those changes, even if the characters were 100% faithful in every other regard, would still worsen the experiences for me. Aesthetics aren’t everything, but they certainly count for something. I mean, would you really be singing the same tune if, as a Spider-Man fan, the movie came out and his costume consisted of a tu-tu with a rainbow afro wig, Air Nikes and shades?

On Galactus, he actually doesn’t have a finite appearance; every race sees him differently. So, he very well could look like a little human girl to somebody’s perspective, and that’d be fine because that’s how he was written. But, to humans, on Earth, in the mainstream Marvel timeline, he looks like a giant man in blue-and pink armor. Even the Ultimate Gah Lak Tus (upon which the movie incarnation is based) is a horde of robots rather than an amorphous cloud. Betraying both of these depictions was a rather silly move*, because these things only serve to alienate the fans.

But, regardless of his look, Piccolo should not be shooting fire from his arms. Period.

*Apparently, they’re going to restore his familiar hominid appearance in the Silver Surfer spin-off, and the decision to portray him the way they did in FF2 was to keep it from being revealed too early for such a minor cameo, so in that respect, it’s not so bad, but then, why even include him in the movie in the first place?

So I wasn't the only one who noticed this.

Now that's silly. Yeah, that wouldn't make the movie good, but it'd at least be a little more faithful and make the movie a little more tolerable.

Saying having a good script but Piccolo wearing pink and having a top hat would only make things ridiculous and cause people to wonder what the hell was up with that. It's not JUST the script that needs to work for a Dragon Ball movie. In order for a Dragon Ball movie to work, fans have to be able to identify the characters.

Ignoring the script, could you REALLY identify the Goombas, Yoshi, Bowser or even Big Bertha in the Super Mario Bros. movie without having to be told who they are? How about Dhalsim in Street Fighter when he first shows up? You can't and that causes the movie to lose steam.

With Transformers, you knew which one was Optimus Prime right off the bat. Big truck, red and blue. Similar to the source material.

Now let's refer to the Dragon Ball movies. In movie 3, Chaozu is an emperor. He clearly wasn't in the TV series. Was he still a wimp who cowered for Tenshinhan? Yep. Did he still look like a paper white pale face with red cheeks? Yes. He looked like he should have and still acted in character. In movie 4, #8 actually fights Goku and nearly kills him. However, what happens? He comes to his senses and refuses to fight and wishes to protect Goku for being his friend. Is that like #8? Aside from initially fighting him, yes. Metallic went from being white to black in movie 4. That was the only difference about him. He still waited for Goku in Muscle Tower. He still fought him and got his head conked off.

See what I'm getting at here?

As for the pic in question...gee Justin, do you think you could look any less interested and focused on what you're doing? Hell, Piccolo looks like he's just standing and throwing a slow-mo punch without really moving his body.

I don't know where you guys are getting at. Piccolo swung with his right, and his arm appears short because his forearm is bent inwards. That's how I perceive it atleast, don't understand the confusion upon that.

Meh...It's okay but I'm still not that impressed. Sorry Fox guess you gotta pull out your trump card now and show us the Kamehameha. Then again I'm sure that will be just as disappointing.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Yuck. Absolutely every facet of this movie repulses me. I wish that it wasn't this way, because it didn't have to be. At every turn they seem to be putting out no effort at all. Terrible. Just terrible.

I think the only reason that we have this movie at all is because of the writer's strike. If it hadn't been for the strike this pile probably would have sat on the shelves a whole lot longer. Perhaps never even being made at all. A man can dream I guess.

The commenters at Jappo's site pointed out a few things:

There's a much bigger version of the Piccolo/Goku picture: http://i35.tinypic.com/107p7iw.jpg

Also the old business teaser is available in much better quality: http://www.movie-list.net/exclusive5107/dragonball.mov

I don't really like Goku's belt, but it's nice that they at least put the Kame symbol onto it. ^^

There are also two new stills of ChiChi (Jamie Chung) and Mai (Eriko Tamura). Here and here.
