What do the Perfect File books say about Trunks/Goten? SSJ2?
A friend and I have been arguing over this and I was hoping to find some closure here. It may sound like a silly thing to argue over but I just have to know who's right. My friend says that Trunks and Goten became SSJ2 in Dragon Ball GT and that it is even stated so in the GT Perfect File books. As far as I know, the Daizenshuu books have only listed them both as Sûpâ Saiyajin. What do the GT Perfect File books actually say about this? Is it possible that he is just being a fan boy here or is he actually right?

Yeah that was an actually drawing a made. I'm still adjusting here. Anyway, back on topic... I figured so. Say my friend is a stubborn one. Is it possible if scans could be provided? I've never read the Perfect File books so I wouldn't know.B-kun wrote:... Jesus fucking Moses, your avatar is huge. O_O And I remember nothing about Goten and Trunks going SSJ2. Sounds like you have a fanboy on your hands. I suggest immediate destruction.

I keep this around 'cuz it's been referenced many a time.UnquestionableTruth wrote:A friend and I have been arguing over this and I was hoping to find some closure here. I know it's been brought up that it only references "Demon Prince Vegeta" as being SSJ2 (and not his regular self after losing Babidi's charm), but otherwise it's pretty spot-on. Goten and Trunks are only listed under regular ol' SSJ1.

Yeah, pretty sure daizenshuu seven notes that Gotenks could have gone SSJ2 (or possibly did) but just skipped right over it to SSJ3.MajinVejitaXV wrote:I think the Daizenshuu mentioned Gotenks as being capable of SSJ2, maybe he's confusing this?

Thank you. I very much appreciate that. Is it possible if this could be translated to show my stubborn friend is wrong? How can I tell him which characters are being referred to on the scan?VegettoEX wrote:I keep this around 'cuz it's been referenced many a time.UnquestionableTruth wrote:A friend and I have been arguing over this and I was hoping to find some closure here. Well, it's a pretty simple chart. It's arranged by the actual stage name (blue background), and then the characters that achieve it are listed beneath that.UnquestionableTruth wrote:Thank you. 超サイヤ人 = chou (suupaa) saiyajin = Super Saiya-jin / Saiyan
トランクス = torankusu = Trunks
孫悟天 = son goten = Son Goten
For a full breakdown, though:
SSJ1:
- Son Goku
- Son Gohan
- Son Goten
- Vegeta
- Future Trunks
- Trunks
- Gotenks
- Vegetto
SSJ1 Stage 2 ("USSJ"):
- Son Goku
- Future Trunks
- Vegeta
SSJ1 Stage 3 ("USSJ2")
- Son Goku
- Future Trunks
SSJ2:
- Son Goku
- Son Gohan
- Demon Prince Vegeta (is that correctly translated?)
- Gotenks
SSJ3:
- Son Goku
- Gotenks
SSJ4:
- Son Goku
Pretty sure this particular guide was written before DBGT episode 59 when Vegeta went SSJ4, so that explains that exclusion (and no movie characters are mentioned, so Gogeta isn't in here at all).

Ma Ouji Bejiita...yeah, I'd say "Demon Prince Vegeta" is a correct translation. In my humble, novice opinion.VegettoEX wrote: - Demon Prince Vegeta (is that correctly translated?)

Yeah. Another name is "Prince of Destruction Vegeta".

I've never really heard him be called anything other than Majin Vegeta (despite this name never even being used; from what I remember he's just referred to as "Vegeta" in both the manga and anime), and I think the Dark Prince is a FUNi-only thing, so...Saiyan-Professor wrote:So “Demon Prince Vegeta” is what fans normally call Majin Vegeta?
Doesn't Dark Prince Returns sound so ripped off from Dark Knight Returns?

Majin Vegeta gets referred to as "prince of destruction" in the title of episode 228, "Hakai Ouji Bejiita Fukkatsu!! Butoukai Rannyuu/Vegeta, Prince of Destruction, Revived!! Intrusion at the Budoukai". And then that's where Funi derived "dark prince" from, for their title for that episode.

I could have sworn that he called himself that in the dub or the subs in one of the Dragonball GT flashback scenes where Vegeta is reflecting on his rivalry with Kakarrot over the years, the episode flashbacked to their second fight during the Majin Buu Saga. If I remember correctly it was after he completed his training in the gravity room and was taking a shower before Bulma told him that he could become a Super Saiyan 4. It has been a while since I watched my GT discs.Herms wrote:Majin Vegeta gets referred to as "prince of destruction" in the title of episode 228, "Hakai Ouji Bejiita Fukkatsu!! Addendum:
I just checked the GT disc entitled “Realization” and in the Japanese subtitles, Vegeta calls himself the “prodigal prince of bloodshed” in the flashback during the second fight with Kakarrot.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

I honestly don't see why Trunks and Goten too couldn't reach those levels on their own, but alas TOEI never thought to take advantage of it in their feverish attempts at pimping out Son Gokû.

Are we gonna bring Budokai 2 with its SSJ2 Trunks into this?
