It took a bit for me to get used to the new style, but I definitely dug the intro being an homage. The logo I didn't dig though (and I'm pretty sure that isn't the original logo, is it?).

Don't make me dig up the Hong Kong Chinese edition of the manga, man! I'm pretty sure this is very close to the original logo of the manga.MajinVejitaXV wrote:See how things look good in widescreen when they're actually framed for widescreen presentation? ;p

...and? I never said Toei didn't cut corners. It's just that Toei did that on (most of) the intros to the movies, whereas FUNimation did it to the other 99% of the seriesjjgp1112 wrote:Never mind the fact that the movies use the same intro
It's possible. I just know the original tankoubon didn't really have a logo at all (on the cover at least, I have the kanzenban).Don't make me dig up the Hong Kong Chinese edition of the manga, man! I'm pretty sure this is very close to the original logo of the manga.

That's what I'm here forTanooki Kuribo wrote:Drabaz got me thinking (damn you Drabaz).

I was going to write that I didn't like how Vegeta's face looked like in the new special, but after looking at the original again, he looks like Akira with that huge forehead. They just can't seem to get Vegeta's forehead proportional even after more than 11 years
Thanks for making this thread Tanooki. I was going to make a video comparison last night, but I'm not the best with video files and rendering so I had no idea how to import an .flv file to my video editing software. I could probably do it now with an .avi file, but condensing two widescreen video files so that they fit on the same screen would probably look bad.

YouTube link to the rescue! It's not mine, but I ran into it while looking for a version of the special that didn't lag that I could watch while waiting for the megaupload version of the special to load... yeah.Drabaz wrote:I was going to make a video comparison last night[...]

By comparing the pics OF THE PARTS WHERE THE KIDS ARE RUNNING ON SHENLONG, Gohan is either really big for a four year old or Goten and Trunks are really short for 7 and 8 year olds(or technically, following the 2 year skip of the special, 9 and 10 year olds, hehe).
Edit: Just adding the caps part because people seemed to have assumed I was referring to the pics with the group shot comparisons.

Gohan never wore that outfit until he was 5. Also, you may notice Future Trunks in the group who did not arrive until Gohan was 7 years old. Vegeta's outfit is from when the jinzoningen appear, though, so I will say that Gohan is 10 years old. This makes sense because Trunks comes back when they are fighting #20 and #19.Captain-Sora wrote:By comparing the pics, Gohan is either really big for a four year old or Goten and Trunks are really short for 7 and 8 year olds(or technically, following the 2 year skip of the special, 9 and 10 year olds, hehe).

He's most probably 9 or 10 in the end of the opening:Yi Xing Long wrote:Gohan never wore that outfit until he was 5. End of DB: Bow-chika-wow-wow!
Start of DBZ: 4
Trains with Piccolo for almost a year; Saiyans arrive: 5
One-month journey to Namek: 5
Eight/nine months after Namek; everyone wished back: 5 or 6
Year on Earth w/o Goku; Trunks arrives: 6 or 7
Three years of training; Jinzoningen arrive: 9 or 10 (picture)
Year/day in RoSaT; Cell Games: physically 10 or 11, chronologically 9 or 10
Buu arc: physically 17, chronologically 16
End of DBZ: physically 27, chronologically 26
GT: physically 37 (or 32, take your pick), chronologically 36
End of GT: Most probably being feasted on by worms six feet under, around 130-140
And there you have the complete, fully, totally absolutely accurate guide to Gohan's age throuout the DB saga!

Yes, I was 1 year off. He was born in May and that is when the jinzoningen arrive 10 years later, so he is 10 years old.The Tori-bot wrote:He's most probably 9 or 10 in the end of the opening:Yi Xing Long wrote:Gohan never wore that outfit until he was 5. No, I meant Gohan, Bulma and Kuririn's journey to Namek, not the amount of time they spent there.Innagadadavida wrote:They didn't spend 6-months on Namek. The majority of the time they were on Namek, Goku was headed there in the space-ship which only took 6 DAYS. They couldn't have been on Namek for more than 2 weeks.
EDIT: Though, looking at volume 21, it actually only took them a month... crap... >_<

Yeah, it took them 34 days to get to Namek I believe. The Tori-bot wrote:No, I meant Gohan, Bulma and Kuririn's journey to Namek, not the amount of time they spent there.Innagadadavida wrote:They didn't spend 6-months on Namek.
