Captain Awesome wrote:What exactly is the "feel" of the series to you?, I'm interested to know because to me that special was a mix of everything Dragonball is, comedy action and adventure, it sounds like all you want is something in the same vain as the other 13 movies, a generic big super powerful villain showing up, laughing, beating everyone up and then being killed in one of three ways, a super powered punch, a Genki Dama, or a Kamehameha.
Hold up. Although I can't explain in words the feel of the series that I get, I'm going to be sarcastic with my answer. You're right. Screw the random powerful villain showing up. Screw that. Screw thel aughing and him blowing everything up, and screw him dying by something like a Kamehameha. Lets have TWO random very weak villains who you know are about as challenging to the Z Fighters as dealing with a broken nail, have them laugh for reasons unknown to you because you know they're going to end up being fried, have those two merge into one being who is a ripoff of Buu and the fat purple king guy from the Dragon Ball movie, and have HIM lose to a Kamehameha.
Oh and while we're at it, in between, how about nothing super funny? Quite frankly, I understood the humor of the Dragon Ball series. But for the life of me, I wouldn't understand what there's to laugh at from the "beginning to end" of this one.
Fine. People are going to blindly love it because Akira Toriyama had involvement in it. Whatever. Again, if he didn't, peoples' opinions would change. Funny isn't it? And then there's the whole argument, "Yeah well he created it! So if he did, it's gold!" Yeah, yeah. That's a great way to judge the series by the way. Just like most other fans. "He didn't write it, therefore it's crap!" Yeah. That right there is a great way to determine what parts of the series you like. Don't even have a mind of your own, just latch onto what others are saying and latch onto Akira Toriyama. Whatever, let it be. The topic asks what you'd change about the special. So that means that this would deal with the issues in the special. And yet, when I say what I felt was an issue in the special, people get antsy. What a crazy concept to actually think that you can post your actual opinion on a Forum! That's just a crazy thought isn't it? It's not enough that most DBZ fans follow the same train everywhere else, it's gotta be on online Forums too. "How dare you say you like the dub? How dare you say that you like the filler? What?! How dare you say you like GT?! WHAT?! You don't like the special that was done by Toriyama?! What kind of an evil person are you?!"
