Then it's actually a fairly simple (if monotonous) task, and I'll enjoy it in an oddly relaxing sorta way. If no one else volunteers for this shit, then I'm so running with my idea and typing up transcripts one at a time.

Last call!

I'll give people longer than a few seconds to jump on it before I run away to marry my keyboard. :D

Still, where would these be goin', Mr. Labrie? E-mail, PM, what have you?

I wouldn't have an issue listening to a few old Podasts. Give me a few numbers and I'd gladly take up the challenge for a set of 'em. A text version of the e-mails that I could search through has been something I've wanted for a long time, because having a text version is just so much easier than going through old podcasts. =p

So yeah, for a feature that I know I'd use, I'd like to help if possible.

Well, fuck. I ain't gonna turn down free help any more than Mike's gonna.

I really do think that we can do this. It just needs to be paced. 150+ podcasts didn't happen overnight, an' all. ^_^

Memory's kinda foggy on the earlier ones, though. Were you guys doing e-mail Q&A as far back as all that? I'll have to check an' see. Regardless, what Super Ghost Kamikaze said works great; if you wanna give us some numbers, then go ahead. If not, then we'll just work our way from the beginning and see where it goes.

I actually do a similar thing at the end of each year for the "year in review" episodes; I listen to every episode's news segment and make a mini-outline for myself. So something like this is totally do-able... the e-mails part is just way more work than the news recap I do :D.

And... if you do this for the e-mails... it would be ALL of the episodes' stuff... 8)

Basically Lemmy, I just don't want to end up doing one that you've already done. Have you started?

Anyway, if it's just the two of us so far, either you can start at episode one or I can, and the other can work forward from say episode 25 or 50.

I am not afraid.

Actually, I'm lookin' forward to this. I think it'll be a lot of fun . . . and we'll nail some added street cred in the process, so what the hell?

I remember a couple years ago I made a similar offer to help with some site function or other and got turned down. What was that about, now? . . . ah, right; I wanted to write up movie synopses. That's a fair shake different from transcriptin' you guys word-for-word, ne? Writing shit on my own would'a meant the creation of written material that . . . well, wasn't written by DaizEX staff. And we shant have any of that. :)

ALL the episodes, huh? Well, then that saves me some trouble of trying to guess where to jump in.

I ain't started, actually. I was waiting to give other people (like you) a chance to jump in and say they wanted some before I hogged the project for myself. We'll wait an' see if anyone else wants in, but if not, who it is between the two of us that takes the first batch of episodes doesn't much matter to me. :)

On a serious note, I always did enjoy the Ask VegettoEX column back in the day; it was one of the reasons I kept coming back to the site. I'm also not the podcast type of person; I've listened to a few, but between a lack of time and a lack of high-speed internet at home (uy, dial-up -_- ) I'd only be able to listen during free time at school...when I'm not otherwise distracted by work and friends. Reading articles online is not only nostalgic for me, but much simpler...and I'm sure the same goes for plenty of other fans.

Me help me help!
Um. Well, it'd be a couple weeks before I could do anything, which would simultaneously leave me with unreliable internet access. But yeah, I'd be glad to help do transcripty things (I wonder if there are any deaf Daizex frequenters? Tehehehe ).
I don't consider myself particularly reliable, though. I think if you go for something like Kamikaze suggested (starting out with 25 episode portions or something), we could probably deal with delays easily enough... Hmm.
So, yeah, count me in, I guess. :)

Well, in all honesty it's probably gonna take a week or so anyway just to properly plan and outline this sorta thing. I mean, the way I see it, it's not so simple as just starting with Episode 1 and then waiting to eventually catch up to the current podcast. We're gonna wanna look ahead with this and plan a bit carefully so that we can pace the work into something good and steady that neither bombards Mike with too much at once or lags miserably to the point of "eh, who cares". We'll coordinate a strategy, divide the work into reasonable shares and keep up a steady clip once we get started.

But for now, we'll see if anyone else wants in. We'll get started soon enough. :)

I wanna call dibs on the batch of episodes 1 to t divided by p, where t is the total number of episodes and p is the number of people willing to contribute work.

T'aint the first time you've mentioned Episodes 1-25, so yeah-- I know you want 'em. You can have 1 to t, Super Ghost Kamikaze. But we don't get started until we've given other people a reasonable stretch of opportunity for other to join in, hear? We can't do the math until we know what numbers we have to work with.

Once we do get started, we'll probably all set to work at once on our individual batches. Who gets the first few episodes doesn't really impact the project in general, although I assume that Mike will be updating the site with these text versions of Q&A in their original podcast order. Either that, or a pre-indexed page where the files can be linked as they become available, regardless of order. Not my site, so I dunno. :)
