Seriously? I thought it was to prevent people from necro-ing in those threads. Sad to hear the podcast is becoming the be all and end all of the site.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:That's pretty much it. The podcast takes care of that little area now.Our "Ask VegettoEX / Daizenshuu EX" section was the text-only precursor to what turned into the e-mails section of our weekly podcast. Dig back into the Q&A responses archives here!

Well he hasn't done "Ask VegettoEX" in years and years, so I don't see how locking the forum now is that big a deal.Dayspring wrote:Seriously? I thought it was to prevent people from necro-ing in those threads. Sad to hear the podcast is becoming the be all and end all of the site. :(

I think it might be a cool idea to revive it... while a lot of the questions do get answered on the podcast, there might be a few that simply don't fit with the podcast as well or maybe one that requires more of an answer. It would, how can I put it.... it might feel more early-internet-esque, making some nostalgic and/or attracting more.
Of course, just my two cents.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Personally I just want a damn text-only (accompanied by a relevent picture, if any) alternative to audio-only, which is exactly what the podcast is.

Uh, guys...
Those threads have *all* been locked *for years*. Absolutely nothing has changed beyond me inadvertently giving the forum image itself a lock while updating the description.
(1) Doing things better than anyone else has done...
(2) Doing things that no-one else ever has, period.
The podcast absolutely fits into #2, with regards to the DBZ/web community. As such, it makes sense that we'd continue to give it the appropriate attention.
With regards to text-only alternatives, yes, I agree this is something that is now lacking. However, the work-to-final-product ratio is a little daunting, as you can see from looking at the timeline of Q&As through the section's history (ending up with a full one-year gap between the last two).
Something I've always wanted to do was go back through all of the podcast episodes and write down the Q&As that we've done... but, uhh... that's *also* a rather daunting task...

While I entirely disagree with that, I *will* say that Daizenshuu EX has always been about two things:Dayspring wrote:Sad to hear the podcast is becoming the be all and end all of the site.

I said what I said because, aside from the news on the front page, there's not really much to keep me coming back here anymore. Exluding the forums, obviously, but as I'm sure you know, a lot of users link directly to the forums instead of the site.
Anyhoo, you pride yourself on taking feedback, so this is mine: the obvious answer to people like me who don't like podcasts is to not listen to them. However, when I do, the site offers me very little as most guides are weak and/or incomplete. There's a VERY logical and reasonable explanation for this, however, hence why I never complain; you're busy, as you just mentioned it's a daunting task, and this is nothing but a hobby.
I appreciate the effort being put into the podcasts, but it's not my cup of tea, hence my negative feedback. I really just see the old VegettoEX's Website turning into "VegettoEX's Podcast." There's nothing wrong with that at all. It's just change over time.

I listened to about the first fifty and eventually I couldn't find the tikme anymore to listen to a podcast, it's very well done, I just don't have time.
However I do think the site is VERY well done and organized, sure the character guides aren't up, but those are everywhere. Most information on your site is very hard to find other places and is very informative.

I'm in agreement about the html portions of the site suffering in relation to the podcast. I like listening to it when I have time, but I usually miss more than I hear. On the other hand, I always have time to read an article on the internet, and I prefer that in any case. Keep up the great work on the podcasts, but update the rest of the site too.

All valid and appreciated opinions.
From my side of things, I can tell you that there actually HAVE been a bit of content updates lately... I just haven't publicized them. A lot of it has been random work to keep the "DVD Guide" up-to-date, which could be a full-time job in and of itself thanks to FUNimation's mind-bogglingly inconsistent history. So that's not "content" the same way that most people think of "content", but it's certainly helpful stuff!
Also, the podcast has directly led to a couple really awesome pages (well, I consider them such, anyway). Here are just a couple:
- DBGT Ending Analysis (thanks to Episode #0091 of the podcast)
- Trunks Side Story (thanks to Episode #0139 of the podcast)
I know it's only two examples, but it's at least something. I owe you guys a lot more, and I can tell you that I'm actively working on a couple of them. No time-frames to speak of just yet, but they're coming...
Of course, I say that all the time, so I'll have to hold myself to it

I personally believe that VegettoEX and Julian have done a great job on both the podcast and the site. I found alote of information about the OVA on here and greatly enjoy the rumor, transformation and filler guides. For those of you who disagree, try to keep in mind that running a website like daizex takes alote of hard work and is very time consuming. Quite frankly, I am amazed that Mike manages to balance his everyday life with work and still provide updates for daizex and do a podcast every sunday as well as podcasts and updates for WTFex and vgconvos.

If someone wants to go through past episodes and do either transcriptions of the questions and answers, or at least halfway-detailed versions of what the questions and answers were, I promise that I'll keep up with them every week and keep text versions of them all on the site.

Sure, sure. I mean, seriously; if I pace myself every week, then it's not too daunting a task-- at first glance, to eat an elephant looks rather impossible, but take a bite out of it every day and it'll eventually be gone.VegettoEX wrote:If someone wants to go through past episodes and do either transcriptions of the questions and answers, or at least halfway-detailed versions of what the questions and answers were, I promise that I'll keep up with them every week and keep text versions of them all on the site.

Although, let's be clear on just what it is you're looking for. Just the e-mail Q&A's, or those occasional moments where you and Meri and/or Julian diverge to discuss your own questions as well?
