That means everything must be different? Alternate plot elements are a good thing. Characters acting unlike themselves is a no-no.

It's my worst nightmare. Pro-Live Action movie people coming out of the woodwork, joining forums, and saying what they don't like about the Manga/Anime.

Super-agreement with the part I bolded.
I like alternative plots. They can be fun.
But characters are the heart of the series; changing them so drastically (I'm talking to you, Chatwin!) means changing the core itself and potentially turning off a good portion of your audience.

This and the salon are the only DB forums I visit, so I think I'm safe.

And if for some bizarre reason all of DB fandom turns into an apocalyptic nightmare once this movie comes back; well, I still have Tsubasa, XXXHolic, Kobato, and One Piece sites to hang out at.

Maybe this forum is more difficult to find than I had previously thought? :?:

*Goes to try and see if she can get here by just typing in "Dragon Ball forum" in google*.

EDIT: You guys, I just went through 10 pages on http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&clie ... tnG=Search and we don't show up.

Luckily the Salon is a much smaller Forum...I'd hate for the Salon to be run over by Pro-LA People and have it turn into a war zone.

DaizEX is different...It's always a War Zone.

I <3 The Salon. X3
It's my "talk about writing and Dragon Ball" place. :3

I'm pleased to note it also does not show up within the first 10 google search pages (dunno how much further I'd have to go to hit it or Daizex's).

I enjoy reading the various War Zones we have here. I don't participate in them much, but I like the debates.

Just got to watch the trailer... It seemed ok. So of the effects were kinda corny, but some of them were really cool, like Bulma's motorbike.

Yamcha just looked really stupid...and the whole "seven mystics made the dragonballs" was really stupid. It was a bit off putting, but the trailer turned out to better than I thought.

So now it's Justin Chatwin's fault that the movie has a bad script and James Wong directed him to act like a dull Goku?
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I seem to get into an argument with somebody at least every other day yet I still keep coming back so we must be doing something right over here at the ol' daizex.

Yeah, I haven't been around there as much as I'd like. But it's a very peaceful place and a tight-nit community.

Chatwin is ok from what the trailer showed. We'll see if acts well or not.

Several people have made comments like this, and I don't get it. While I can certainly see accepting a few or even a lot of changes to adapt an extremely long series into a film or two, I don't understand why any fan would actually be glad about the ways the film isn't like the original, in and of themselves. Isn't the whole idea of a DragonBall movie adpatation to see DragonBall on the big screen? If you want to see a movie that's not like the DragonBall manga/anime, go watch Army of Darkness.

Then people are mad because he didn't flip out when Bulma took out the motorcycle! Given the origin of this "Goku" he has to have seen stuff like that plenty of times! Not to mention his Grandfather was just murdered! He had like 3 lines of dialog in the trailer and people are condemning him to death already. Not fair! :?

They share the blame actually.

If at least one of the three is terrible (Director, Writer, or Actor), no matter if the other two are the best in the world I think it guarantees some drop of quality.

Truthfully, I always place the most blame on the writers when a movie or tv show starts to smell foul.

Noticed it at the bottom of the page on the salon.

I'm not completely sure, but I haven't heard anyone saying it isn't true. It's been up on their wikipedia page for quite a while without them trying to take it down, and they're being really anal about what gets put up on that page at the moment...
Take a peek in their discussion section and see how they're refusing to add 'Evolution' to the name because there isn't a reliable source to confirm it.

Exactly! You could get the top 5 actors in Hollywood right now to act out this exact same script and you'd still probably get the same result! [/quote]

It's because I like to see different approaches to a story by different authors. I also enjoy the differences between manga and anime of different series.

But, I'm not denying that I would love to see a better adaption, it just doesn't bother me that it's not. Even if it was, people would still find something to complain about.

This is the cited source. He's also listed amongst the cast on IMDB.
