John of AnimeNation today was asked if DB: Evolution will be financially successful.
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

So? Look anyone with a brain can tell accurate from not accurate. Is the creator of Watchmen didn't like it then that's fine. But basically you're saying...Because someone's going to complain no matter what, that means Fox should change EVERYTHING? This movie in no way resembles DragonBall. Goku is not Goku.JAPPO wrote:Watchmen looks fantastic but the creator of the comic still doesn't like it.Gozar wrote:First off, I am talking about the characters personalities. Secondly, with all the sci-fi action un-realistic stuff out there. A proper DragonBall is not a far cry.JAPPO wrote: Someone would say:
"WTF It worked in the anime but not in real life this is retarded!"
You have to admit no matter what, people are going to complain.
I think because something we've known and loved for years is being slandered and cashed in in a way that makes Funimation look good.Kendamu wrote:Why do we have to take it personally?

Everything was not changed, and you haven't seen the movie so just stop making such wild assumptions on a 1 minute 50 second teaser trailer.Gozar wrote:So? And Fox has made it pretty clear this isn't exactly like the show, hence the name change. But not EVERYTHING has been changed, as we can clearly see.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.
A Trailer is used to give people an idea of what the movie is about and what the characters are about. If this is what they could give us to show what DB is and who Goku is then the Movie will be no better.JAPPO wrote: Everything was not changed, and you haven't seen the movie so just stop making such wild assumptions on a 1 minute 50 second teaser trailer.

Isn't exactly like the show? Try NOTHING like the show. When you make Goku a high school student instead of an un-educated hick it's hard to come back from that.

I think it's too early to tell considering we know next to nothing about this adaption of Piccolo's origins. From what we heard from the trailers, Piccolo was probably the menace that attacked Earth long ago and so it can be assumed he comes from somewhere else other than Earth be it another planet or another realm altogether.Herms wrote:Probably the same thing the manga Daimao planned to do after destroying the world one piece at a time over 43 years.Pain wrote:This is something else that bothered me. What would "Movie Daimao" do after he destroyed the planet? Where would he go?
From the trailer, I do like this Piccolo's appearance except for the obvious lack of antennae but who knows if they will pop out or something. Judging from what the writers of this film have done so far, any crazy thing could happen by the end of the film, good or bad.
Whatever, still making wild assumptions. Goku attending high school for a brief period (so brief it wasn't shown in the trailer) is hardly EVERYTHING.Gozar wrote:A Trailer is used to give people an idea of what the movie is about and what the characters are about. People need to open their mind a little. If they can't, OK fine, no one is forcing you to watch it. Just watch the anime.
It's an adaptation of a goofy anime, not the bible.

Point taken. However, do you have to take it personally that people will like this movie? Will you hold it against them if they do enjoy it? That's what I'm getting at. You can take it personally against FOX for what they're doing, but why take it out on the people who like the result?Gozar wrote:I think because something we've known and loved for years is being slandered and cashed in in a way that makes Funimation look good.Kendamu wrote:Why do we have to take it personally?
As for the people who do like the result, why take it personally when people don't like it?
Yes, and part of the reason Watchmen was created was to prove that stories normally reserved for television and movies aimed at older audiences could be conveyed equally well, if not better, in comics. So, to make a movie out of that story, no matter how entertaining it is, is going against part of the core inspiration for the story in the first place.MisterFlashdude wrote:Doesn't Alan Moore dislike just about every single movie adaption of his comics anyway?JAPPO wrote:Watchmen looks fantastic but the creator of the comic still doesn't like it.
That's a big part of why Alan Moore doesn't like the idea of a Watchmen movie.
As for his dislike for the V movie, that's a completely different matter.
Wait. Dragonball isn't a religion?JAPPO wrote: It's an adaptation of a goofy anime, not the bible.

Super-agreement with the bolded part.
THAT is the biggest issue I have with this movie. Them turning Goku into a bland, "look at me, I have no emotions and that makes me edgy and cool" highschooler irritates the living daylights out of me.
On hiatus.
Wild assumptions? Please, stop humiliating yourself. Think before you post. A wild assumption would mean I pull things out of the air. Everything I've said is based off of what I've seen and what fox has given us.JAPPO wrote:Whatever, still making wild assumptions. I've mentioned before that it isn't at all about the length of time something will be in the movie, but the significant impact that short moment can have on the story. This is the biggest reason I dislike both Gohan being alive and Goku being in highschool.JAPPO wrote:Whatever, still making wild assumptions. Will Piccolo blowing up a city last more than 10 seconds? Not by much. Are fans messing their undies over seeing it? Apparently.
Is Shenron in the trailer? Nope. Does that mean his inclusion in the movie is insignificant? I'd think not.

And this is where I stop our exchanges. You obviously don't respect others opinions (I've talked to you elsewhere).Gozar wrote:Wild assumptions? Please, stop humiliating yourself. By the way...They changed the Bible tooBut regardless, that doesn't mean it's OK to try and claim something that resembles DragonBall in no way is DragonBall. I read a comment on a Forum that they someone fears that if they get Vegeta in a Movie they will attempt to make a Last Saiya-jin Man/Woman thing and thus make Vegeta a woman. What if they did that?
Have fun at the theatre.

I could care less if people like it. But if they try to claim it to be a good adaption of DragonBall then I cannot take them seriously.Kendamu wrote:Point taken. We've spoken elsewhere? I have no clue who you are aside from this Forum.JAPPO wrote: And this is where I stop our exchanges. You obviously don't respect others opinions (I've talked to you elsewhere).
But I respect people's opinions...Just not yours. You swipe aside every logical defense against this Movie with "Well you haven't seen it yet"...I don't need to get shot to know I wouldn't like it.
Then that just shows you DON'T respect others opinions.Gozar wrote:I could care less if people like it. Taking them seriously and taking it personally are two different things, I think. One of my best friends is a hardcore dub fan who hates eye-catchers, likes the Orange Bricks, likes the licensed metal music in the Trunks Special dub, and couldn't give two shits about the manga. That's laughable to me, but I'm not about to take it personally because I'm a manga-loving fan of the Japanese music and the eye-catchers always put a smile on my face.Gozar wrote:I could care less if people like it. So, if someone actually thinks that Dragonball Evolution is a good adaption of Dragonball, while I'll wholeheartedly disagree with them I'm not about to turn it into something personal. Dragonball may be very important to me, but it's not worth fighting people on the Internet about.

Frankly, I would never want to respect anyone who thinks High School Goku is a good adaption is from the real Goku. That's for Fanfics, not multi-million dollar movies.
That's what Forums are for. Discussing things to death. Just like every other topic in the DB-Universe, this Movie will not get a pass from me. It's rather obvious that this will not be a faithful adaption. As far as I'm concerned if it's not faithful then it's not the thing it's adapting. It's just creating a completely new franchise with the DB logo slapped over it.Kendamu wrote:So, if someone actually thinks that Dragonball Evolution is a good adaption of Dragonball, while I'll wholeheartedly disagree with them I'm not about to turn it into something personal. You can't tell me the Great Saiyaman didn't seem like a fanfic.Gozar wrote:It's hard to take you seriously when you say you're not going to talk to me then do it 2 minutes later.JAPPO wrote:Then that just shows you DON'T respect others opinions.Gozar wrote: I could care less if people like it. That's Toriyama's style. We've seen this before with the Ginyu Force. Wacky humor is Toriyama, he can do whatever he wants.JAPPO wrote:You can't tell me the Great Saiyaman didn't seem like a fanfic.Gozar wrote:It's hard to take you seriously when you say you're not going to talk to me then do it 2 minutes later.JAPPO wrote: Then that just shows you DON'T respect others opinions.![]()
