I know people are going to be angry with what I am about to say, but it must be said.
If you think this movie looks nothing like DB/DBZ you are purposely being close minded and blind. I am sorry, but it is true. There are several people especially, but I will not call names, who are being ludicrously close minded to the point of stupidity.
There is plenty in this trailer that screams DB to me, and I would consider myself just as big as a fan as any. If any of you guys have seen my collection, which there are a few pictures up in the show off your crap thread, you know I am a serious fan.
So why am I not mad, why am I not screaming about how this movie is "nothing like dragonball". I'll tell you why. Because, in my eyes, there is plenty of dragonball in what I have seen.
The look of the movie may not be accurate to the show, but I don't really care that much, it still has it's own dynamic look. The over blown colors and lighting effects in the trailer give it it's own unique look, which I personally don't recall seeing in any movie of recent.
There is still tons of fighting and energy blasts, which the show had plenty off. Goku's Gi remains mostly intact, Piccolo is green, evil, and looks awesome. Piccolo also still has his floating ship, an Mai is still a henchmen, but her role has been beefed up, which is fine, cause there were never really any good female villains, aside from 18 in all of DB, and with the current trend of powerful women in movies, this is no surprise, same with Bulma's character being altered to be more tough.
There is still a Martial arts tournament of some kind, although we don't really know all the details.
From what I can tell from the Trailer, Kamehouse is still intact, although it is made to look more realistic, and instead of being on a island in the ocean, it is on a island surrounded by a giant futuristic city, which I can dig.
Roshi is still Goku's master, Yamcha starts out bad but becomes good. I am assuming the Dragon still grants wishes, it never says that they don't. The origin of the Dragonballs appears to have changed, but it's not that important, especially if they never introduce Kami, so that's fine.
Capsule Crop is still intact. Bulma is still rich and searching for the DBs. Bulma and Yamcha supposed still have some kind of love interest going on. Capsules are still used but altered a bit.
Goku's personality might have been changed, but I still don't think we have enough evidence to prove that he won't do stupid things or be goofy. The trailer was obviously there to appeal to a wide audience. And with today's trend of dark brooding heroes, they probably left his goofyness on the cutting room floor for this trailer, but that doesn't mean he won't be in the movie.
There is still the Kamehameha, and most likely other signature attacks. Goku is supposedly still supposed to turn oozaru, Piccolo still makes Demons, and Shenlong is still summoned at some point. Also Goku's DB is the four star one.
Honestly, I would have preferred Krillin over Yamcha, but I can't change it now. Maybe Krillin will be in the sequel as Goku's student or something.
NOW I HAVE A CHALLENGE: I want everyone who says the characters who don't look like themselves, to draw a picture of what they think Goku and the Gang should look like in a live action movie. If you are going to stand on your high horse and say it looks bad, then show or tell us what you think it should look like. Have fun of course.
Also please stop bringing up the Vegeta being changed into a women, cause that would be awful and I can tell you, even the most Pro of the Pro movie people will shit all over that.
EDIT: Alright I watched the trailer again and he definitely says "KA MAY" pause "HA MAY" pause "HA!". Which is perfectly fine, who said he says it ka mayyah, mayyah! is wrong.
