For season 9, my bet is that they'll put Vegetto on the cover.

Yeah, in that stance he's in when he first appears. I'd post the image, but I'm typing from an iPod, so sorry.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

No, they can't have a Saiya-jin on the cover who's not an SSJ! None of the kiddies would give three shits! :P

'Cuz, as we all know, Dragon Ball is nothing without Super Saiya-jins. ;)

My money's on either Gotenks or Yamcha. :P

Goku-Dende Hypothetical Fusion, the drink Super Buu drinks while reading a comic in ROST, or one of those intenstine caterpillars.

Do it, FUNi. Your rep with purist fans can never be fixed, so have some fun with the last season of Z.

At least with this set it can't be fixed.

They could fix it with another release, but that would probably make the dub fans mad.

Since most dub fans don't care about 4:3 or Dragonbox, why should it matter. Funi's already made so much money off this franchise already. We deserve something to show that we aren't being totally ignored.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Because a release that would make purists happy would probably have changes made to the dub.

4:3 Dragonbox season sets with Daimao subtitles. It's possible. Dragonball makes money for Funimation. It ain't Kodocha(sorry to any Kodocha fans, it just doesn't make cash for Funi).

That was a totally ignorant blanket statement, there are plenty of dub fans who would be really happy about Dragonbox quality season sets, myself included.

I'm talking about Joe Dub fan off the street who saw DBZ as a kid. The ones that have been making the season sets huge profits. Not informed dub fans, cause you there aren't many of you in the dub fanbase.

It's still a sweeping generalization. What evidence do you have that shows there are many Joe Dub fans and that's where funimation is getting their profit?

You do know that DBZ is a huge series. Just about everybody I know watched DBZ as a young kid. We are all in our 20's now and have jobs. Buying DVDs is something people do with their money. Besides, if there weren't casual fans, nobody would have bought the season sets based on the outcry against them online.

You're right. I'm just being antagonistic at this point. Sorry about that (not sarcasm).

I bought the season sets, and continue to do so, because I like the show. I have some problems with the dub and FUNimation's treatment of the show, but widescreen isn't one of them. I can give two shits for missing 20% of arguably the least important part of the picture. The series needs to be updated for high-def and I'd prefer they crop the picture so that I don't have to zoom in and get a blurry pixelated picture on my TV.

For reference, it doesn't have to be widescreen to be HD. Take the HD release of Casablanca for example. It's in fullscreen. FUNi could very easily release fullscreen DBZ in HD. It doesn't technically need "updating" via cropping.

I'm sure there is a handful of dub fans on the forums that would care to disagree, including me. I admit that I've thrown hundreds or maybe a grand into FUNi's pocket, but I don't particularly like what they have done and what they're still doing with the series. Until I take the time to study Japanese, this will be the format I will have to stick with since, I cannot fully enjoy Dragonball in it's original format. FUNi could blow me if I knew Kanji. :)
