Actually, that would be the Funimation dub. The new movie, however good or bad it is...doesn't really touch the original material at all. It will be great if it's good, but at the VERY WORST, it's a waste of an hour and a half.Rena Rune wrote: What happens when all the quirky shows we liked as kids will be utterly bastardised?
I mean, Dragon Ball is hardly a series in dire straits, here. The entire manga is out in english, with minor censorship quibbles and name oddities. The worst problem is the non-release of the first 13 episodes on DVD, with the second-worse being about 30-40 episodes being really expensive and hard to find on Region 1 DVDs.
As it stands, other series only get partially released before poor sales have the plug pulled. Hell, GaoGaiGar had poor enough sales to have it sit in purgatory for awhile before sub-only releases continued to end the series. There are other series that simply do not have a DVD release anywhere in the US, or partial support, or multiple dubs.
When it comes to Dragon Ball, the series is in pretty good shape, unless you hinge your happiness on what other people think of what you like. This isn't the Region 1 "Saga of Goku" dub-only, highly-censored release. That is bastardization of a classic. This is really nothing to fuss over if it is bad. It's just a bad piece of entertainment, and hell, those are churned out all the time.
