And this is all FOX? I think they're the worst movie studio ever. At least they didn't make Watchmen while they had the license... they're just stealing the already made movie.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
From what I've read it isn't definite.

Excellent!

I was a little sad about this at first, but now I just can't stop laughing. We need to come up with an excellent nickname for him like Chatku. Maybe Speanu or Keanike.... never mind that just sounds ridiculous

I was calling him Vampiccolo until I saw that he would indeed at some point be green.

Somthing tells me that this movie is the setup for the Live Action Akira and what better way to get this past the minds of the anime fandom? Hide it underneath a worse movie! Tactics used to get a bad bill passed now apply to movies! Genius! Good thing the Japanese are so forgiving and won't remember how we threw their people on our soil in prison camps! By us I mean you screwballs! I hope this movie goes by without a major eruption of fan anger.

I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I think it was awesome. Renewed my faith in the film's "faithfulness" a good bit.

Is that an actual Japanese poster for Army of Darkness?
Yes. It was featured in a book, Translating Hollywood, about how movies are marketed in foreign countries, often taking on rather surreal depictions in the process.

Piccolo is actually known as a namek throughout the movie. He isn't shown to be able to regenerate but the offspring he creates (Fu Lum assassins) can regenerate body parts.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Is there any actual meaning to the term "Fu Lum" (like how all of Piccolo's minions were named after instruments--Piano, Tambourine, Drum, etc) or is it just a made-up name.

I'm guessing it's just a 'ching chong' (ie. American pseudo-chinese) word.

In terms of editing, I think you need to kill the theme music, shorten up some of the clips and make all of them immediately relevant to their counterparts (some of the animé shots trail on into things that have no LAM equivalents).

But, in terms of content, I like it. Looking at the two side-by-side is really interesting. I’d say it gives me some faith as well. Not a whole lot, but at least more than before. :)

The video has sealed the deal for me. I'm going to see this movie.

And the Saiyan space pod has intrigued me. Makes me think that this movie is being made specifically as a prequal to what can be the really good part of the live action series.

That information is obvious though and has probably been speculated long before I came to my bone-headed realization.

I mean, they couldn't exactly start right at the Saiyan part... Well they could have... Actually they probably should have.

Ironically, I think that highlights just how little the Piccolo offspring in the movie resemble the original. Same for Piccolo's throne and Oozaru. And what filler is that with Roshi talking about the dragonballs? I noticed that was the only anime clip that used the dub, so did the original mention any chosen one?

The meteor in the trailer is a saiyan space pod. But it's Gokus. Not anyone else's.

I think the dub was used for a lack of subtitles. The rest of the clips are Japanese with no Subs.

If it is just one of FUNimation's many questionable script changes, I can understand why it might be what influenced the story of the movie. They would naturally draw solely from the dub that the intended audience is familiar with, regardless of the Dub script's quality (I mentioned that to avoid being flamed).

Actually, the "Bulma's bike" anime part used the dub as well. And I think I heard some dub grunts in one or two others that had no dialogue.

And considering that Roshi is not in his Jackie Chun guise, I don't think it's from the Daimao saga. Still, it just seems like a slight extrapolation on Bulma's mention of the last person who got the Dragon Balls becoming a king.
