If he doesn't say it in the movie, then that's just one less strike against whoever would've made him say it.

I'm re-reading what this lovely-raindrops-1 person said on IMDB, and it's way too much of a coincidence that she got all these details right. I'd say she's legit.

(She said she saw a pre-screening of the movie because she works in the industry).

Her review was positive.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

I still say it’s a cold read. (Unless you have actual, specific, examples, that is…)

If its true, and its not in the final script, I say "So long, 'I'm not ready for this'. We had some fun times, but I'd rather have an in-character Goku than one who's not."

Not that movie!Goku's in-character....but, getting rid of this line will make him slightly less out-of-character.

I wish they could get rid of ".....cool." too.
Or the hair gel.

I wonder if that line was originally in there somewhere, and the backlash caused them to take it out of the script.
On hiatus.

One thing she says isn't in the script but I can easily see them adding it in. It's the mention of tournament contestants like Bacterion and Nami. There's a perfect opportunity to introduce them, so I can see them adding that in a later draft!

I think you mean Namu; unless Nami from One Piece were in this movie, which would be even more awesome.

Namu then. I don't know anything about One Piece.

Why does everyone keep complaining about Goku not being Goku?

The anime/manga Goku was a stupid kid who was RAISED IN THE WOODS BY AN OLD MAN.

This ISN'T that Goku, this is a TEENAGER who was RAISED in the REAL WORLD and ISN'T NAIVE to the point of IDIOCY.

What about that is so hard to understand.

Because people wanted him to be raised in the woods by an old man. 8)

Which would make the movie overly cartoony and stupid as a Live action film.

This isn't an adaption, people.
It's a RETELLING

Oh?
How?

I'm just being logical about all this and not going the bitchy route and saying 'GOKU ISN'T GOKU I HATE THIS MOVIE'

Well, in the realm of fiction where aliens are throwing highly destructive blasts of energy from their hands at each other, flying around, and resurrecting people through the power of a dragon god that's awakened by gathering some shiny objects together (which were created by another alien) we've already come to the point that we realize that this isn't a realistic series.

So, to make Goku anything but a character who spent his boyhood living in the woods being raised by an old man for the sake of "realism" is like throwing green beans on a perfectly good ice cream sundae in the name of healthy eating, even if it is likely to taste really bad. Just get a salad if you wanna be healthy and leave our ice cream sundaes alone.

Now, I know some of you are inexplicably excited that someone's going to give you an ice cream sundae covered in green beans and there is a chance that a large portion of that sundae will taste great once you get past the green beans, but I'd rather just not have ice cream at all since the people making them won't let me have one without green beans on it.

If instances like answering a question about the moon in a "stupid" manner or the whole "'Master' isn't in the phonebook" debacle are true... then it would seem this Goku IS a tad on the naive or clueless side.

When it comes to his amnesia-fueled "innocence," though, that seems to be a different story. They seem to be focusing more on his Saiyan side, giving him this near-overwhelming at times itch and drive to fight. But he doesn't, not because he's had his brain scrambled, but because Gohan raised him that way. To be gentle and calm and channel his anger and power into something more productive, namely martial arts. Grandpa Gohan IS the headfirst fall into the ravine for movie-Goku.

It's an interesting way of doing it, and provided all is as Jappo tells us, then I look forward to seeing it carried out.

Why can't people accept that this isn't going to be a panel for panel adaption of the manga? I can see why people aren't happy about the LOOK of the movie but the story? It's just a story based on Dragon Ball! They change things around in other adaptions all the time. Frodo was never that whiny in the books, Peter Parker really wasn't that much of a nerd after he got his powers, Eddie Brock never dated Gwen Stacy!, Gimli was never really that funny in the books, and Optimus Prime never had flames painted on him. I just don't understand what the big deal is.

I suppose it's never really that big a deal until it happens to your franchise.

I like all of that stuff though. In the X-men movies they never wore the costumes they had in comics and most of the ages were wrong but that didn't stop me from enjoying the movie! Venom refered to himself as "We" and he didn't have the long tongue but it didn't drive me up the wall! Those Elves never showed up at Helm's Deep to help out in the books but I still loved the Lord of the Rings! I just don't understand why people have to be so unforgivably precise about movies! Their just movies! For people to be so anal about this stuff makes me wonder how they ever got into Dragon Ball or Anime or ANY form of entertainment!
