And let's not forget about the ultimates that are just automatic and have no chance for the other player to defend, like Super #17's and Paikuhan's. I really hate those -_-
Also GT Goku's.

I'm at a loss to how people can actually state this game as an improvement, the new characters aren't even worth how much they fucked with the gameplay.

The game is just flat out bad. Have you noticed that the character models for characters like Bebi, Janemba and Paikuhan look cheap and undone?

Ultimates do not equel gameplay though.

The gameplay overall was improved and is far better than Budokai 3 if you really know how to play. If you're really worried about the cheaper "No cutscene" ultimate moves from the SB games and BL or you're upset about the ultimates that are automatically successful no matter what(they're only for the new ultimates, all the old ones from B3 are kept the same thankfully) then just don't let it happen. Half the time the computer barely spams it, only time that ever happened to me was in story mode and in even then I didn't find it much of an issue considering half the time I'm kicking the computer's ass.

Above those small issues that can easily be stopped by comboing properly, I would easily choose the actually imrpoved gameplay in IW than B3's slower gameplay. Infinite World's combo system is much more fun with the previously mentioned moves I stated in my other post such as the P+K moves and the death moves being able to be used mid-combo.

In short, the gameplay is barely screwed at all, it was improved, the ultimate moves were the ones that were messed up by being split into different versions. If you can play right and do combos and cancels properly(canceling isn't even hard to master), you can win easily regardless of the computer's cheap moves.

Sorry, that kind of annoys me, I know how to play the game, I play fighting games, not just Dragonball games, but actual fighting games, Infinite World isn't some nuanced technical fighter, it's a twist on a game that had a solid fighting engine with a few added features and problems.

My issues with the non cinematic ultimates isn't that they're non-cinematic, it's that only a few characters have them, In Burst Limit, everyone has them and the gameplay benefits from it, I don't want to watch a 30 second cutscene, I want to fight someone, but you can't give some characters interactive cinematic ultimates, some characters non interactive cinematic ultimates, and some characters non-cinematic ultimates and call it an "improvement", it doesn't make any sense, and the game suffers for it.

Again, these games aren't brain surgery, I know how to play the game, I've been playing the Budokai series since it's first itineration, and fighting games since I was tall enough to reach the controls on an arcade cabinet, so I had no trouble adapting to the changes made with this game, I just don't think they were changes made for the better.

So please stop trying to invalidate my opinion by essentially saying I dislike the game because I don't know how to play it.

I'm not saying that you personally don't know how to play. I'm speaking in general about how the game should be played but also include a reply on your actual criticism as well, sorry for that mistake.

Anyway, like I said, the ultimates still don't make a game nor did I ever call them an improvement, only that we should be glad that the majority of the ultimates are still the old ones and only a handful have those other ones without cutscenes which can still be dodged or blocked(I dislike how some NORMAL death moves are a bit too big though, like GT Vegeta's Final Flash).

I already explained the actual improvements and how they blow the actual issues out of the water. The combos are easier to do, mid-combo death moves can be done now, P+K moves, the aura dashing and its gut punch move, etc. Plus the combat being a little more fast paced on top of it.

Tiny little issues that can easily be stopped or simply blocked with the L1+X energy guard move/dodged/quickly attacking with a physical attack if you're close to your opponent as they start up their ultimate doesn't ruin the game anyways.

What thing DOES ruin the game a little for me is the stupid fatigue system though. But I learned to deal with it. Besides that, I'm pretty much fine with everything else, and I'm happy that the majority Budokai fans also really love this game for going back to the P and K gameplay while improving on the parts they find that actually matter.
