Considering the movie itself didn't have the same type of humor as the books and trailers are always pulling crap like this, I really can't be 100% sure. I would guess it was intentional, though.Olivier Hague wrote:Of course it was intentional.Bussani wrote:it seems the trailer might have managed to keep a bit of it, if it really was intentional.
I'm sure Justin Chatwin wrote the scriptChuquita wrote:Conan the SSJ wrote:To further comment on this trailer, I really don't get the whole (cliche) "the battle for our world" line given to this trailer's 'narrator'. So is this "adaptation" supposed to take place on "our Earth" as opposed to an alternate one? I'm not trying to be nit-picky, just saying that this baffles me in the context of a story about "DragonBall". But then, everything about this film pretty much baffles me, so I guess separate choices from it for how to present the trailer shouldn't either. Also, does anyone else notice the confusion in that exchange between Goku and Bulma?
"Let's go."
"We go, but we go together."
Why is he emphasizing they go together if she just insisted upon that same thing? Perhaps something was lost in the intended context of that conversation in abridging it to trailer form, really don't know. Also, interesting addition; Roshi blinks about twice more after "You're the only one who can do it". Yep, like I said, interesting.![]()
Good points also, Cap'n Awesome.
I didn't even notice that they both said practically the same thing to each other.![]()
That's so..."redundantly redundant" of Chatku.
Also, trailers always, ALWAYS, contain line spliced together and out of context. And most of the time contain scenes that don't make the final cut, or alternate angles of the same shot, that way when you see the movie, you aren't seeing the same thing as the trailer.

Is it just me, or are half the lines in the trailer not actually in the... the... the thing what where a movie is wroted?JAPPO wrote:ACTUALLY, in the um "written text for a movie thingy" Bulma never says "Let's go."
She doesn't want to go at first.
And why is it that the Mafuba looks shittier than it did in the original? It actually looked pretty cool before.

Alternate shot, alternate special effects, maybe? The Tori-bot wrote:And why is it that the Mafuba looks shittier than it did in the original? It actually looked pretty cool before.JAPPO wrote:ACTUALLY, in the um "written text for a movie thingy" Bulma never says "Let's go."

Maybe they felt that moment needed to be toned down as to be less of a spoiler or something.
I too agree the older shot looked a lot more intense.

While this trailer IS slightly different from the last, it still doesn't give me a minute percentage of hope that this movie will be watchable. I just don't see how anything good can come from this... trash.

Ahem. I'm going to disagree with this.Daburcor wrote:While this trailer IS slightly different from the last, it still doesn't give me a minute percentage of hope that this movie will be watchable. I just don't see how anything good can come from this... trash.
Let's say that, hypothetically, there is nothing good about the product as a whole. That it is, as you say, "Trash".
Universally, objectively, and indisputably.
Now, youre idea is that nothing good can come from trash?
How about the way you were introduced to Dragon Ball?
The dub, perhaps?
Even if not, how did the majority of this community discover the show? How did Daizenshuu EX build up into what it was? The dub was influential.
The dub is garbage.
The dub is worse than this movie could ever be.
And yet, look at what came from that.

LOL, I know he didn't write it.
I meant in the context of that clip, that'd be a very redundant reply to "Let's go.".
(Which is why I'm hoping its only an odd editing burp).
If its confusing; when I refer to live action movie Goku, I call him Chatku. When I'm referring to the actor, I call him by Chatwin. ^^;

Well, I would rather watch a bad movie based on Dragon Ball than watch the dub from start to finish again. It's not necessarily the voices or the bad script, but...it's one of those dubs where nothing anyone says sounds natural. It gives me a migraine after a while.B wrote:Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:The dub is worse than this movie could ever be.
Maybe that's just me though. Even if this movie is complete garbage, I like seeing weird things based on things I already like.

I suppose I should have said:

Doesn't mean I don't have a right to question it.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:Of course, remove the edits, and you have my personal opinion. =p
On topic, the trailer is filled with updated graphics and looks quite nice.

I don't like the alternate Mafuba shot, however. It's all yellow-y and brown, which seems....kinda same-y.B wrote:Doesn't mean I don't have a right to question it.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:Of course, remove the edits, and you have my personal opinion. =p
