I was done with this silly argument but I guess you had to add your two cents. Talk to the other two I explained my reasons for using the name on a number of occasions and I said I was done with this ridiculous discussion. Wojak thanks for understanding. Rocketman avatars have nothing to do with it, I was just demonstrating how silly it was to make a big deal out of something insignificant as a name someone chooses to use.

I never said you were going to keep the argument going; my post wasn't directed at anyone specific, but I've seen enough of these net arguments to know that even if one person bows out, someone else will inevitably keep it going, and new people will dive in and the person who tries to say 'let's just drop it and get back on-topic' is often ignored. I added my two cents, yeah, but it wasn't meant to lash out at anyone specific, here, just hopefully stop the entire thing from continuing unnecessarily.

Because as you can see, Satan-Sama has completely ignored my post and gone back to continue the argument.

Whatever, I'm done here. I said what I felt should be said, so whether it accomplished anything or not, I'm done.

Other people are allowed to point out inaccuracies and such, and this style of attitude is unwarranted and not appreciated.

I'm seeing plenty of absolutely ridiculous responses in this thread, which is absolutely asinine. It needs to end right now, and everyone needs to re-read their own posts to see just how ridiculous they all are, Saiyan-Professor in particular.

The words Vegeta speaks after the Cell Game, as Toriyama wraps up a lot of lose ends, prepping for the final chapter of Dragonball.. but of course, we got the Boo arc, which is in itself, a whole other can of worms.
Anyway, getting back on track, my question is.. well, what happened? Are we to presume movie 9 is canon, and Vegeta got his fighting spirit back in the fight with Bojack? or did something else happen, because when Gohan is visiting Capsule corp, we see that Vegeta is still in fine shape, and is infact, reminding Gohan that he should be the same.
So, yeah, what happened to Vegeta's little speech?

I think the nineth film works as a possible "this is how Vegeta got his groove back" but considering the utter helpnessless he felt when Son and Gohan completely stomped on him and his pride--not to mention #18--and having lost his chance for a rematch with Son...I think he was simply clouded at the time. I'm not sure if Toriyama takes movie nine as canon, however if he spoke with his editor and TOEI I'm sure it would make sense that he maybe sees the film as canon, despite the lack of mentioning in the Daizenshû.

Toriyama originally wanted to end the series at the Cell Saga but the fans didn't like that he made Gohan the hero, so he did another saga. As of why Vegeta broke his promise,well, he could've kept what he said but then when Trunks got old enough, he convinced himself to train him to be more powerful than Gohan.

This can be proven in Dragonball Z Volume 20(dragonball volume 36) when Bulma says to Gohan that Vegeta thought Trunks was old enough to train and wants him to get better than Gohan

If the entire series after the Cell arc was going to be the way the Saiyaman stuff was, I'd be all for it.

Remember Toriyama intended to have the series finish after the Cell Games. I think Vegeta actually did just give up all together, since his anger and frustration led to him losing all hope of surpassing Goku and Gohan. Boo Saga was just fucked up, they had Vegeta somehow going back on his word and then 18 and Kuririn happily married or something and there's no explanation as to how it happened.
