You'd need someone naturally brooding and angsty.
Justin Chatw--oh, right.
... You know, maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, but I was getting hte impression that like, next to no movies were getting a PG rating anymore... G for the Disney and Pixar stuff, PG13 for the other stuff, and R just kinda hangs out waiting to strike... Egh.
I wonder if the Kamehameha stuff from the trailer is from the end-ish?

*Imagines Chatku boring Piccolo to death with his angsty stories about how horrible his life at school is and how he doesn't fit in*.
Heh, I'd find it funny if I weren't so depressed with Chatku myself.
Stuff that's gotten PG....I think that Inkheart movie was given PG...and the dog movie they stuck the live action movie's trailer onto.
On hiatus.

I know what you mean. We barely get any R rated movies any more. Every movie has to try to appeal to a wider audience, which means toning it down to a lower rating.
I'm sick of there being toddlers in every movie I go to see (though admittedly that's partly because New Zealand ratings suck even worse than everywhere else's).

Well, I'd heard in another thread that the film was going to get a PG rating. PG-13 would be better, though.
I've got to wonder how brutal the final battle between Chatwin-Goku and Marsters-Piccolo will be. Afterall, Ma Junior got downright savage with Goku in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai when he was carving him up with ki beams.
Be cool if Chatwin-Goku got a hole blown through his shoulder, but that's probably unlikely.

Trust me, in America, there's no shortage. Just a few months ago there was a time when we had, of the 12 screens at our theatre, 10 "R" rated movies.

Really? That's just proof of how much New Zealand's ratings suck. They're far too lenient here sometimes. We have G, PG, M, R and R18 I think, but on top of that they're color coded. G is green, for all audience. PG and M are yellow, which means they're essentially just different degrees of parental guidance (like PG-12, but not really since it's still up to the parent if it's okay for their kids to see it or not). R and R18 are red, but barely anything gets those ratings.
Most films here end up being M and I end up having 5 year olds behind me.

Over in Australia we have almost the exact same thing, just instead of R we have MA-15, which is a restricted M (red), and R18 (black).

Why do think he will be so angsty?

I really don't think the whole social outcast thing is going to be emphasized that much.
It'll probably just serve as a starting point for his character. It's just part of the Hero's Journey.

People won't even be thinking about the High School stuff by the middle of the movie. It'll be that forgettable.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.
If we're all here for a reason then I'm just visiting.
If it's held in your heart then you can't let go.

Combination of what I've seen from the trailer and read from Jappo's script. ^^;
I've seen very, very little evidence to prove that he's going to be the Goku from Mr. Toriyama's manga.
I know he isn't going to kill Piccolo that way--I can imagine Piccolo beating his head against the wall and screaming "Make it STOP!" while Chatku angstily drones on and on though--but I need to make light of it or else I'll just feel depressed.
On hiatus.
