Totally Spies are right up there with Dragonball...
No, literally, I went to Suncost and acording to them, Totally Spies is Anime and sits right up there with Dragonball, Evangelion and other greats. Dosn't it bother you to see an Anime section filled with Ninja Turtles, Jackie Chan Adventures, Teen Titan's, Invader Zim, and the list goes on and on....
Note: Not that I'am saying those show's are bad, I love Titan's Turtles and Zim!
UPDATE: This is Amazon.com's best seller's list for it's Anime DVD's....

Yes, it does bother me that Totally Spies sits up in the anime section. Even the worst anime is ten times better than that show...*pukes at thought of watching another episode*
I am also somewhat bothered by the fact the Suncoast is only putting some American cartoons up in the anime section.

Oh wow . . . that is sad. I almost feel as sad as when I heard that there was an anime distributor calling itself Manga Entertainment. Does anybody ever try using a dictionary?
On a side note, Teen titans is VERY anime-esque, using pleanty of old-school techniques to show emotion (the single large drop to show embarassment, the -_- look, even kawaii / chibi character forms to show happiness). Does that make it anime or does the fact that its an American cartoon automatically make it not an anime. I guess I'm asking if anime is a genre or an ethnic distinction.

The only non-anime I've seen in Suncoast's anime section was G1 Transformers. Totally Spies (cough*bad show*cough) was in the family section.

Making anime into a "genre" would not make the slightest amount of sense, as everyone Japanese cartoon has it's own unique style(for the most part that is). Toriyama never used wacked out facial expressions in DragonBall, should that not be considered anime now? Really, the only similiraty I can see between all animes is there horrible framerate.

Does it matter? They are all animation/cartoons in the end. I see no problems with it, these shows actually go after more obscure audiences than your typical animation does.
BTW, for the record, Totally Spies is french. French animators have been taking a lot of liberties of trying to create animation that draw in more obscure crowds and audiences, rather than casual viewers. American/Korean animators have been doing the same as well for a few years.
Its not that they are trying to "emulate" japanese anime, but they are trying to find their way outside of the casual viewer.

From Dictionary.com: "genre-4: a class of art (or artistic endeavor) having a characteristic form or technique"IncredibleGuy wrote:Making anime into a "genre" would not make the slightest amount of sense, as everyone Japanese cartoon has it's own unique style(for the most part that is).
Anime obviously fits this definition don't you think?
Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

Amernime (or somethin' like that) is what they call an American cartoon with anime styles! Though I don't see how TMNT is regarded as anime, unless the mentioning of Japanese culture counts!

There's actually a lot of anime-style effects in there. Not like you'd usually think of, like sweatdrops and the like, but more subtle stuff, like fight scenes and screen transitions.Though I don't see how TMNT is regarded as anime, unless the mentioning of Japanese culture counts!
And BTW, they do have a TMNT anime in Japan.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

You have no idea. Any time "ANIME IS NOT A CARTOON!!!!"-banner waving brain trusts spew nonsense BOOM. Not that anybody did that here but just nice to have it out there. That picture comes in handy, doesn't it, omae?
I'll never forget the day I found that setup, it was beautiful. Just walking down the isle and BAM! ANIME/DISNEY! I could hear the screams of a million fanpeople.
