Vegeta has a new line. Well really, an addition to an old one. It's after he knocks Goku out:

"Maybe we can do this again sometime...when I see you in hell.

I was shocked when I first heard that line.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Yes, when he sees him in hell...even though he knows Goku is (going to go back to being) in heaven. Well played FUNimation, well played

Are you serious? See you in hell is a line that's always used against people you don't like, even if you know they're going to heaven. It's just an expression really.

EDIT: It actually wasn't a new line. I guess I was just not expecting something like that in the original dub.

Vegeta: "Kakarrot, what are you doing down here?"
Goku: "Ah, Cell's being a pain in th' ass again. Grand Kaio sent me to take care of it."
Vegeta: "Oh. Whatever. Seeya."

So now you're reduced to whining about turns of phrase?

Yes. Thankfully, you counter my wasteful posting with something that brings true substance to the thread. Bravo.

I think that's only the third time a "curse" word is said in the dub. "Damn" is said by Vegeta and Krillin one time each in the saiyan saga.

The Namek Saga's full of swearing.

They curse like sailors in the Namek redub (okay maybe it's not that bad but still.) I also believe Trunks said Hell in the Bojack movie.

I always thought it was funny that in the redubs of the first two seasons they were like "Damn! Hell! Damn! Hell!" but as soon as they got to Season 3 and they started using mainly old dub audio again, they went back to being all like "Nuts! Crud! Double-darn it!"

No, they didn't literally say double-darn it. I was just playing around.

And don't forget...

Android 13: Now I can't believe that the great Goku is catchin' an ass whoopin' from those boys. If you can't even handle the Indians, why bring out the chief?!

Android 13: Now I know, we should all just let by-gones be by-gones, but that ain't the way it's gonna be. I was created to kill your ass, and that's exactly what I'm gonna do.

As well as Vegeta's "Life's a hell" speech from Movie 12.

One more reason I can't go back to watching the dub. It's not the lack of swearing. It's not the excessive swearing. It's the inconsistency between the two.

Of course the dub as a whole now is one big inconsistent mess.

I agree, I always watch Dragon Ball dubbed and there's never any swearing when needed, but always some in some random spot. If only FUNi could have put some in where it was needed. Of course, they don't need to put tons of it in either (like YYH  ).
GT is underrated and the International Channel will always be my favorite channel for foreign programming. I still miss it.

Yeah I thought that was funny too. Like people really say "nuts," in real life when they're pissed...

It's just a stupid line that makes no sense (hello? Vegeta dies a couple of episodes later and says goodbye to Goku along with his 'wife' and child, not exactly a sign of seething animosity towards him), and it's nowhere near what he originally says. Out of curiosity though, does the dub actually have Vegeta tell Boo and Babidi that he's "not going to hell alone"? Because I'm going to laugh my ass off if they randomly had Vegeta tell Goku he'd "see [him] in hell" but cut out him saying it to Boo.

Corey's right though, why would vegeta say that knowing Goku will be in a different realm then he will be?

It's an expression not to be taken literally.

There is no valid argument here.

Err, he's telling Goku's unconscious body they'll fight again when he sees him in hell. That's a bit different from the garden variety "see you in hell" statement. Seems a bit more literal to me :P
Plus, Corey (just two posts ago,) wrote:It's just a stupid line that makes no sense (hello? Vegeta dies a couple of episodes later and says goodbye to Goku along with his 'wife' and child, not exactly a sign of seething animosity towards him), and it's nowhere near what he originally says
I think that's a fairly valid argument, even if you don't agree with the "Vegeta says "see you in hell" even though he knows Goku won't be going there" argument. Unless you're saying Vegeta is just off his meds and being bi-polar ("I'll see you in hell, Kakarrot! No, wait..I'm dying for your sake, Kakarrot! No, wait...")

The funny thing is, he eventually does see him in Hell...

Just curious but when Vegeta has his chat with Piccolo about what will happen to him when he dies, was that dialog dub only or was it pretty much the same in the original?
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.
