Same in the original. Piccolo's more critical of Vegeta in the dub, but it's pretty much the same.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Right. So if he had to ask Piccolo about both of their fates then its safe to assume Vegeta wasn't really sure about the afterlife or he just doesn't pay attention. Also when he says "When I see you in hell" I don't think he made up in his mind that he was gonna blow himself up yet.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

In the dub, maybe. In the original he has a good idea that he won't survive (he tells Goku that when he wakes up, "I'll probably be dead"). Then, when he appears in front of Boo and Babidi, he tells them that he "won't go to hell alone, you two are going to be my honor guard!" Kaioshin immediately determines that Vegeta intends to die at this point.

Oh! Now I see where you're coming from. I don't have any of the Buu Saga stuff on DVD/Manga forms so I wasn't sure what was said in the Japanese version. Yeah looking at it like that the "See you in hell" line is out of place.

Actually, that was pretty much the clue that he was ready to die in the dub. If he says, "Well continue this again...when I see you in hell." makes it obvious that he knew he was going to die.

It kind of ruins his atonement to some degree though. In the original, Vegeta realizes that he is at fault for Boo's release and Gohan's "death" and so he is taking responsibility by taking on Boo by himself. He basically tells Goku that when he wakes up, "It'll all be over, and I'll probably be dead." It proves, beyond a doubt, that Goku was right: Vegeta was still ultimately good, despite becoming charmed. He knows that facing Boo will probably kill him, but he knows it's his fault that Boo is free at all. Moreover, he wants to do it alone (arguably because he wants to be the selfless hero himself finally, having seen Goku do it numerous times).

By him saying, "We'll finish this in hell" or whatever, it seems...out of place. Badly.

Those screens make the Double Features look like the Dragon Boxes. O_o

Or mabye it's just the animation...

It's also interesting how there's more footage chopped from the top and bottom compared to the trailer. :?

The bottom left of Goku's Halo begs to differ.

Although, looking closer, I don't think those frames are perfect to one another...

The top for the trailer is more chopped, however on the bottom the Season 8 footage is more chopped.

Season eight really does look pretty good in my opinion, plus it is less then a dollar a episode. I really cant wait to see the super pretty animation day in the next set, I bet everyone knows what episode I am talking about.

The first episode of Goku vs Kid Buu fight, where the animation is almost DBZ Movie quality and it almost seems like it is in a different style.

One thing I noticed is that Studio Cockpit, the studio that did the Goku vs. Kid Buu episode as well as the famed Goku vs. cell episode is used VERY frequently during the Buu saga. Hell, from episode 147-153, it's used every other episode. Which I have no problem with, obviously.

And also, I found another moment where the dub outshined the original. When Piccolo goes to check if Buu's dead or not after Vegeta blows himself, his monologue is awesome.

"Now I understand - Buu would simply regenerate if he was damaged in any normal way, so you had to make an attack powerful enough to blow him to bits. Well you did it Vegeta, your sacrifice wasn't in vain. I've walked through that door before, I know it's not easy, especially for a selfish guy like you. Heh, I was just like you once, until Gohan's love changed me, and you've been changed too. I know how much courage it took for you to do what you did. Goodbye, Vegeta."

I don't know the original quote, but I think that's one of those unnecessary "hero" lines. Granted its a decent speech, and Piccolo's intelligent enough to say it; but I don't think it fits his character.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I just thought it was cool how he brought up how he did the same thing in the past. Here's what he says in the Japanese version:

"Vegeta...you sacrificed your very self...For the first time, youfought for someone else, and died. You've extinguished yourself...For you to die, and leave nothing behind...A fitting end for the high pride of Vegeta...We've been svaed by him, have we?"

I don't care what anyone says about Funimation that line is fucking awesome and anyone who disagrees is just lying.

Actually, re-inspecting the line, I like the "courage" part; just not the "Gohan's love blablabla" stuff. Too cheesy.

Hey, how else would you describe what happened to Piccolo. I guess he could have said he softened my heart or something, but I dont think its that cheesy. At least Vegeta was not brought back to life by the tears of Pokemon.
