I think I figure out the animation director names.
So far, I know there were other threads that try to figure out which director did this animation and yes, there are easier ones and really hard ones that are too similar. I been obcessed so far in trying to figure who did what episode.
Thanks to the famous daimao website, you can see who did what episode from the early saiyan to the early artifical humans arc. ep 1 - 135
http://www.xmission.com/~daimao/epindex2.htm
Thanks to Kanzentai, you can see which teams did what episode in Dragonball in this page. Every episode!
http://www.kanzentai.com/production.php ... or_credits
The hard part the middle of Cell and Buu in determining which director did this episode.
Now.. this message board thread help me get closer in my goal. Scroll down and you see a couple of videos that collected clips of episode with the director.

I know Masayuki Uchiyama for his famous pale cartoony type.
Yukio Ebisawa for his triangle crap and Mitsuo Shindou for the evil eye.
Keisuke Masunaga did the famous New type which is great
Masahiro Shimanuki and Kazuya Kuda are so similar in animation and look that I find it difficult to tell the 2 apart. They are famous for the wide turns and animated body language when the characters talk. Here the episodes I know they did
Shimanuki = 68, 76, 81, 87, 93, 219 and the Gaiden game.
Kazuya Kuda = 98, 103, 109, 119, 125, 130, 134, 146, 268
Tomekichi Takeuchi = 4, 11, 19, 25, 31, 36, 40, 54, 58, 63
Episodes that had to be done by either of them, 140, 150, 155, 160, 166, 170, 175, 180, 187, 205, 211, 225, and 231
Minoru Maeda is pretty famous snice his style is so good and he did movie 1 - 7 and the trunks special. Naoyoshi Yamamuro did movie 8 - 13, he also a great director that have a very toriyamaish style. He did 7, 14, 21, 28, 34, 40, 48, 70, 77, 90, 95(ssj goku), 107, 112, 117 124, 164
Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru is good but did a few episodes which is 44, 120 and the Bardock special.
Yuuji Hakamada did what I call the thick blocky type, it still look toriyamaish and it look great in the Goku death episode in the Cell games. Episode = 188, 196, 203, 209, 215, 221, 227, and 240. He's very easy to identify.
The more Toriyamaish directors are
Naoyoshi Yamamuro = 122, 127, 133, 157, 162, 168, 185, 206. Movie 8-13.
Naoki Miyahara = 159, 199.
Takeo Ide = 129, 138
Masaki Satou = 64
Isao Hayashi = 245(ssj 3 goku)
Shingo Ishikawa = 229, 263, 271.
Now if any of you who are knowledgeable can help out, it would be great. I hope some of you do recongnize what episode those are.

Huijo, God bless you, Thank you, now I can die in peace lol. Oh my gosh, how you found this info. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, oh man I'm so printing this. I been watching the season boxsets and unfortunatly Funimation doesn't provide the Japanese credits. I been like that with Kenshin and rewatch every episode and see the animation director in the credit and I would be thinking, why can Funi provide that info.
The lists are pretty accurate, but some names are a little bit wrong.
久田和也: Kuda Kazuya
菅野利之: Kanno Toshiyuki
In addtion, 内山まさゆき and 内山正幸 are the same person. He just changed his pen name during the series. It's the same with 前田みのる and 前田実.
By the way, Takeuchi Tomekichi was the oldest Sakuga Kantoku (Animation Director) in the DB series. He even fought against US Army in World War II.
His first work was 少年猿飛佐助 (Shounen Sarutobi Sasuke) in 1959 and he continued his work until around 2000, but unfortunately passed away in 2001.
Edit:
Recent bad cover arts of DB related DVDs and video games are the works of Yamamuro Naoyoshi, the Animation Director for the late DBZ movies. He did great jobs during the series, but recently it seems that he lost his touch very much..

Ah, thanks for the help. I've never been that great with Japanese names, since there's no furigana. As far as Takeuchi Tomekichi is concerned, that's just my fault I misspelled the name. As for Kuda Kazuya and Kanno Toshiyuki, I wasn't sure exactly how to spell their names, so I went with the ones listed on Anime News Network; Hisada Kazuya and Sugano Toshiyuki. So which ones are correct?kei17 wrote:The lists are pretty accurate, but some names are a little bit wrong.

I might have to get a hold of you sometime and have you look over a couple things.

That I knew, I just forgot to mention it. Except Takeuchi Tomekichi... I can't believe I missed that. Anyway, on Kanzentai, I'll add little notes signifying when two credits are the same person. Those notes just weren't in the file I copied this from.kei17 wrote:In addtion, 内山まさゆき and 内山正幸 are the same person. He just changed his pen name during the series. It's the same with 前田みのる and 前田実.
That's a nice piece of trivia. I'll definitely remember that.kei17 wrote:By the way, Takeuchi Tomekichi was the oldest Sakuga Kantoku (Animation Director) in the DB series. I finally have a name to praise for all of those superbly-directed episodes.
I second that motion.![]()
I love ep #274! It's one of my favorites. X3

Even I, a native Japanese read that way at first, but these pages say that they're Kuda and Kanno.Hujio wrote:As for Kuda Kazuya and Kanno Toshiyuki, I wasn't sure exactly how to spell their names, so I went with the ones listed on Anime News Network; Hisada Kazuya and Sugano Toshiyuki. Don't hesitate to PM me when you'd like to know about Sakuga related things in DB or several DB dubs in the world.Hujio wrote:I might have to get a hold of you sometime and have you look over a couple things.
Such "moving animation" depends on 原画マン (Genga-man, Keyframe-animator) and not the work of Animation Director. Shimanuki and Kazuya also did keyframes in many episodes which they were not the animation director, so you can see their "moving animation" in such episodes. However, the only way to check the Genga-man is to see the original endings in DragonBoxes so it's hard for people don't speak Japanese to check it.rzerox21xx wrote:I notice the difference between Shimanuki and Kazuya. Athough using very similar moving animation...
Some Japanese DB fans say that he was quite good in the Buu arc, but his style of drawing was too far from Toriyama's in the Cell arc. They sometimes call his style "Potato-face".Smooth Criminal wrote:Masunaga Keisuke is AMAZING.

I like well-done actions in the episodes he engaged though I also personally don't like his style.
Edit: I found an AMV features his works.

BTW, my favourite Animation Directors are the ones belonged to 菁画舎 (Seigasha), Takeuchi Tomekichi, Shimanuki Masahiro and Kuda Kazuya. There is an AMV features their works on YouTube. I really like the insanely-done flying scene starts at 2:00.

Thank you, I been quite enlightened, I even notice that at times, some episodes that I would say Yamaruroish woudl be somewhat Kazuyaish with the animation. It's hard to see frame by frame. Yukio Ebizawa is capable of doing great work like the Vegeta atonement episode 237 yet his characters would look bad like Ep 250 with the first appearance of Old Kai. Uchiyama Masayuki does great fighting animation but too bad the characters look like they came out of Dragonball or early Saiyan saga rather than Buu or Cell. I would love to know more about the difference between the moving animation to the director where the characters look either pale cartoony, triangle crap, new type or toriyamaish. No wonder I had such a hard time finding out who did 245(ssj 3 goku), that director only did one episode as well as the ep 64(Vegeta vs Recoom) which I assumed it was Maeda but Masaki Satou only episode int he series.

Awhile ago, there was a thread that posted the names of studios like Last house, studio live, shindo production, studio juno and k production. I just went on animenewsnetwork.com on the Dragonall z entry and saw those very studio names. Funny that after viewing the directors, I want to know more about those too.

Wow, thanks Kei, I watched the videos, it became more clear to me why I mistaken often Takeuchi, Shimanuki, and Hisada for each other. hahahahaa. I use to catergorize them in groups like that. Early Dragonball style(uchiyama), Crooked style(ebizawa), Turn animation stye(takeuchi, shimanuki, hisada), facial style(masunaga) and Toriyamaish stye(Yamamuro and Maeda), and wide evil eye(shindo).
Maeda Minoru seems to be the originator of the style that Akira Toriyama eventually began using.
And Uchiyama Masayuki prooves that the Pale Cartoony type used to be basically one of the best styles back when Akira Toriyama was using the old, round style. He did DBZ episode 1.
Also, the "Next To The Best" and "Closest To Toriyama" styles were both supervised by numerous people, especially "Next to the best." For Next to the best, all of the episodes look similar, but each supervisor has some unique aspect that's different from the other. My favorite of the turn animation styles is Shimanuki's, and least favorite is Takeuchi.

Wow! Thanks for the list!
Are these animators still getting work? I've never seen their style in any other anime. Except Uchiyama Masayuki, who worked on Toei's Yu-Gi-Oh series.
I'm impressed they were 8 different animation directors on Dragon Ball. I've seen short series with over 12 different animators.
