Even if the movie doesn't turn out that great, I really hope that it will at least cause a influx of new merch in the US, cause seriously, I can't even remember the last time I found some new Dragonbal stuff (not counting DVDs) in a store near me without having to go digging, and even then it's nigh impossible to find anything.

Yeah, those Dragonballs look SICK! I know Japan had a set like that a while back, but I'm hoping for something nice and affordable!

Yeah, they really do look amazing. I know I was saying weeks ago that I did not know whether I would want to include this movie or any of its merchandise in my Dragon Ball collection, but those balls look worthy of an exception.

I wish they sold those in stores. Dragon Ball beach balls sound like lots of fun.
On hiatus.

Well, I have yet to post in this entire 100+ page thread, let alone even look through it. But I thought I'd pop in and post a scan of the "DragonBall Evolution" flyer included in the recent "Super Exciting Guide". I know it's nothing new, but if anyone is collecting images of DBE stuffage, here ya go.

I totally agree with you on both points. I'd buy those in a heart beat. I think you were referring to these, that were released in Japan in 2007. Not bad, but probably not worth 19,800 yen (~$200 U.S.) to most fans.

Thank you! Hey, is there any chance we can get a scan of the Dragonball Kai promo(s)? Thanks!
And does that flyer really say "DRAGONBALL ©2008" at the bottom?

Grow up.
I don't think Toriyama's
ever insulted anything Dragon Ball related that's non-canon. He's just a really nice guy that wouldn't be able to give his real thoughts even if they
were hateful.

Why pay the bills when we could wish them away with Dragon Ball replicas?

Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

That may very well be the case, but he went way too far.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

I have DragonBall Beach balls, got them from a Gachapon machine. Mind you, they are much smaller then that, the size of a regular beach ball.

The DBK ad was on the outside ribbon on the book, whatever that's called. Anyway, it's tiny and doesn't say anything we don't already know. It's basically a picture of Goku with the Kai logo and the air date.

Yes, yes it does.

That's just not Toriyama's way, it's the Japanese way. Most people will not come out and blatantly bash anything. And I don't blame Toriyama, since he's made so much money off of DragonBall. Every time someone uses it, he gets royalties. Cha ching! In fact I wondered be surprised if Toriyama could not care less about it. That's just his way. He's getting money for something he did in the 80's, without lifting a finger these days; he's all about that.

Actually, what the creator thinks (though obviously we'll never REALLY know what he thinks) should be irrelevant to anyone's opinion of the movie. You have to judge it for what it is based on its own merit/lack of merit.
I know everyone is tired of all the negative opinions and those with negative opinions are tired of stating what they already knew to be case, but I'm gonna say that based on what I've seen from the clips, this movie continues to make me very unhappy. First of all, I find it ridiculous that the "actors" decided to take an even less natural approach to the dialog than the original cartoon voice cast or, dare I venture, the FUNi dub voice cast. Secondly, I don't think I could've ever imagined more drab scenery for a movie based on a science fiction fantasy series, ESPECIALLY Dragonball. It's hard to believe they spent all that time to produce this. The action scenes, probably the major selling point of the whole series, aren't even tasteful or well executed. So I don't think there's any error in my saying, yeah, this doesn't live up to the source material.
On the positive side, DBE Yamucha sounds like a fun guy.

I agree with you on this point. So far it looks like nothing but a bunch of deserts and the forest that surrounds Gohan's house. It makes you wonder what how they spent 100 million dollars.

I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.
If we're all here for a reason then I'm just visiting.
If it's held in your heart then you can't let go.

Well they did film it in Mexico.
Please don't hurt me.
Probably should have just filmed in Montreal like they were initially going to. Quebec is pretty barren of any desserts.

Exactly. If I went with everything Stan Lee had to say about some of the Marvel movies, garbage like Fantastic Four and Daredevil would be considered great adaptations of their respective comics.

As far as the action scenes go, don't forget that these fights are surely small-fry compared to the later-movie slugfests that we've yet to see, especially like Goku vs Piccolo.
