Maybe because he died and was brought back, the lack of tail was made part of him in his revival, since it Shen Long only really heals wounds up to a certain point before they are dead. I know scars are a different matter, but I'm just throwing it out there.

Huh. That's an interesting in-story theory.

But that doesn't explain why Gohan never grew another tail.

Because regardless of how much you train it, if you don't use the Oozaru state, it serves no purpose but to be a weak point. What's better: a long appendage that opponents can grab that causes pain -possibly paralyzing pain- and potentially turns you into a giant beast that attacks your friends, or no such appendage? Most likely they just kept removing the tails whenever the fuzzy culprits grew back, especially once SSJ levels came along.

I've always assumed it's just because he was older then Goku and Gohan were when they regrew their tails.
The older you are, the slower you are too heal?

Yet he claimed it would grow back. Sure, there are no other Saiyajin around to tell him, but did he really not know?

I kinda like Kingdom Heartless' theory. As for Gohan, maybe it has something to do with him being a half-breed. Maybe it was the overdose of Brute Waves from Vegeta's power ball thing that triggered it to grow back? I think that's actually the only manga instance of Gohan's coming back?

I simply believe the tails not growing back is a plot hole by akira. Also I've noticed on this forum a lot of you guts make CRAZY assumptions. For example.

"No one taught vegeta how to grow it back"

Are you serious? Saiyans arent nameks, they cant think i want a new arm and get one.Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't gohan grow his back every time he looked at a moon?

We like to theorize about story ways to explain plot holes, even if it's obvious to us that Mr Toriyama just forgot something or didn't think it over in the same detail we might.

But yeah, 'learning to grow it back' doesn't sound right to me.

I think once a saiyans tall has been cut off it will either

A.It will grow back from blutz wave exposure. Aka lookin at a full moon

or

B.Grow back on its own.

I have a theory:

Maybe because Saiyen children are less experinced than adults, the chances for them to loss their tailes are higher. And therefore, need to regenerate more than the adults who are experinced enough in battles to avoid cutting their tails.
