Someone on /a/ was kind enough to translate the OP for us.
DOKKAN DOKKAN Follow me to
DOKKAN DOKKAN Paradi(s)e
Break out the Genki Dama Go Go Let's do it

A creeping, ominous energy
I won't show any mercy! Just you watch
I'll protect you even if it costs my life
Turn courage born from love into power

I'll triumph over any crisis with my fighting spirit
The tougher the guy, the bigger the thrill

DOKKAN DOKKAN Come with me
DOKKAN DOKKAN It's your chance
Ride the winds of luck like crazy

DOKKAN DOKKAN Follow me
DOKKAN DOKKAN Tomorrow, too
The answer's already within your spirit
Dragon Soul!

I highly doubt it. By the time they wait long enough to even consider doing it (with the Dragon Box The Movies singles just having finished coming out and all), re-animating any of them would be a moot point considering the point in time and all. If anything, they'll make completely new "movies" and animate them in the same style as the Jump Anime Tour Special.

Well shoot, I was beaten to the punch with the "Dragon Soul" translation. Here's a translation of "Yeah! Break! Care! Break!" As has been mentioned before, what's actually sung in Japanese when "Yeah! Break! Care! Break" is displayed is yabure-kabure, a word meaning "desperation" (this word is also written in furigana above the roman letters for "Yeah! Break! Care! Break!"). The idea seems to be that "Yeah! Break! Care! Break!" kind of sounds like yabure-kabure, especially when pronounced with a Japanese accent.

Yeah! Break! Care! Break! [yabure kabure] Omoikkiri
Tobunda Mugen no sora he
Jetto kiryuu ni nokkari
Doko demo iku yo sokko-
Mukou mizutte saiko-

Let’s go tip-top! All right?
Me mo sameru you na aoi chikyuu
Kakegaenai kono hoshi Yuzurenai kara
Hajiketobase Kamehameha
Yabame no kono jidai
Sekai wo mamoru tame umareta kara

Yeah! Break! Care! Break! [yabure-kabure] Omoikkiri
Yarunda Furu Pawa-
Kibou ga ore no buki da kara
Mirai shinjite

------------------------------------------------

Yeah! Break! Care! Break! [Desperation] At full force
I’ll fly towards the infinite sky
Riding the jet airstream
I’ll go anywhere—Suddenly
The water on the other side’s the best

Let’s go tip-top! All right?
The blue Earth seems to awaken
This planet can’t be replaced, since it can’t surrender
Let fly with the Kamehameha
This is a dangerous era
Because I was born to protect the world

Yeah! Break! Care! Break! [Desperation] At full force
I’ll do it. Full power.
Because hope is my weapon.
Trust in the future.
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

I love the songs even more now that I know what they mean. They both seem very DragonBall, especially Dragon Soul.

Does anyone know if Funimation has their eye on the series? And what all from the Bardock special is in the first episode?

I don't think it's their main focus right now. Especially with the new Special on the table.

As far as the Bardock Special...Goku's birth, Bardock's speech to Freeza and death, and Gohan finding Goku in the woods.

There's just a lot of things I don't like about DB Kai. :?

- Why the new voice acting? Piccolo and Raditz sounded way off. Why 'fix' something that didn't need fixing?

- Inconsistent animation style. The new animations are glorious, but the episodes themselves look SO outdated, especially when in direct comparison to the OP/ED. Since this was a renewal of the show, why not go all the way and re-animate the whole show? It really could've used it, especially these earlier episodes.

- Feels like it's rushing too fast. That recap at the beginning was nothing special. Sure some of the filler of old was headache-inducing, but I'm of the belief that a a nice leisurely pace makes the dramatic scenes that much more effective.

- Cropping. Say what you want, the show suffers the same problems of FUNimation's orange bricks. I don't like it.

- Music. OP/ED themes suck. The BGM is alright, but again, why did it need changing? The original BGM is better, bar none.

To say I'm let down would be an understatement. I may or may not waste my time watching the rest of the series. I mean, ultimately, what's the point? The way I see it, nothing is changed for the better (barring the fantastic op/ed animations along with the eyecatchers)-- only for the worse.

They're are definitely aware of its existence, but I doubt we'll see a release over here for a while considering how FUNi already has on their plate, and since they're not even finished with their most recent release of the original DBZ series.

So I already said that Kai episode 1 takes up exactly two chapters of material, but I don't think I mentioned how it stakes up against the original Z episodes. It includes material from about the first one and a half episodes of Z, meaing so far the series is moving at 1.5x the pace of the original, which is pretty good considering the added Barduck scenes and DB recap, and the fact that DBZ episode 2 has very little filler as-is.

I just found this clip that kei17 uploaded [post]. It shows the entire Bardock recap scene: http://www.4shared.com/file/96819266/3d ... Story.html

Because everything in DBZ was in mono. The series is being presented in HD and is having filler removed. They have to redo certain points of dialog, as well as make the voice work in stereo.

Definitely not the same. FUNi's cropped and zoomed and the cropping was always on the center. As we've seen before, the cropping in Kai only affects unimportant areas.

That was just 1 persons opinion. I think the general feeling is positive. Is DB Kai the greatest thing to ever happen to DragonBall? No. But it is pretty awesome and a fun new change.

I 'effing love it! It's a bonus. It's not making the original any worse and it's not taking it away. The music is awesome, the quality is amazing, and the positioning of the frames is wonderful for a widescreen format.

Pic did sound older already just off the bat, where originally his tone changes as he matures. That's probably because Fuwakara's older > >

Honest to god I haven't heard Radditz in Japanese before now, but even so I picked up on how strange he sounded.

Most shows the openings and ending animations are better than the show itself, and I'm fairly fond of the new art so it doesn't bother me. I still would have preferred seeing it reanimated, but Toei just didn't want to do that for some reason.

Agreed on cropping- I'll never agree with it, however it's done.

Liked the songs though. The score isn't really clicking with me but the opening was pretty awesome on the whole.

Snagging a 720p version now. I should have DragonBox/FUNiBrick/Kai comparisons tomorrow, just for the heck of it. For now, sleep.
