Vizbig has (some of) the color pages in color, which were grey scaled in the original Viz releases. I forget whether they have all of them or not. I'm sure someone else will tell you about the censoring; I don't have them, so I'm not sure.

I know there's a lot of censoring for swearing and "bad" words in the VizBigs. I have the first printings for some of Viz's tankobon sized Z manga and they're chalk full of swears and epitaphs like "see you in hell". The later printings and the ones farther down the line took all of them out or don't have any swearing and such.

Oh yeah and then there's Vegerot :x
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

The regular Viz GNs always had that change though. And those later volumes still haven't been released in Vizbig format anyway, right?

*Kermit flail* It makes sense, there is no Kakarotto in English thus there is no Vegetto because there is no "to" at the end of "Kakarot". "Vegett" is awkward so they switched some letters around and made "Vegerot".
People say that name sounds weird but when Kami's genie is named "Mr.Popo" and the most terrifying demon on Earth is named "Piccolo." Vegerot isn't that far of a stretch.

Why is there an o at the end when the "o" in Kakarot isn't? In any event that particular "o" wouldn't sound right placed at the end.
(Unless of course it being at the end changes its pronunciation but my first point still stands. )

I think you're missing the point.

Vegeta + Kakarotto = Vegetto

Vegeta + Kakarot = Vegerot

It sounds weird to me too, but it does make sense.

Also, it's not like Dragon Ball had hard core swearing to begin with (blah blah blah no actual 'swear words' in Japan), but honestly I didn't notice if they stopped saying 'Hell' and I don't think it takes away from the story. Unless they started calling the place under Serpent Road 'HFIL' again?

They actually do censor Hell (as in the place) at least once: after Cell self-destructs and Goku and Kaio are floating around, Goku originally asks if Cell went straight to Hell, while in Viz he asks if he went to "the other place".

They do have actual swear words in Japanese, it's just that, as I understand it, it's only the act of actually saying them to other people that is considered offensive/taboo. So muttering "chikushou" to yourself when you're late for the train is fine, and fictional characters using them is fine, but actually cursing someone out is bad.

I see. That's weird about them choosing to censor it there.

And yeah, in Japanese it's more about how you say it rather than what you say, right? It leaves it pretty open to interpretation in a way though, I guess. Some people seem to think Dragon Ball is supposed to be filled with 'f-bombs' on every page I mean.

They did changes for the Kenshin ones too. Only there it was just fixing typos that the smaller gns had, and whatnot.

Oh no I got it I was just showing that even Funi kept the Vegetto thing in their weird little way. It's just that Vegerot is just so hard for me to look at without laughing and dying a little at the same time.
