Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! manga?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! manga?

Post by Eison » Thu Apr 09, 2009 12:37 pm

I came across this image and was wondering were it's from and if there are more, it's obvious it isn't from Akira Toriyama.
It also would be nice to know what they are saying.

There aren't translations for it yet.

The mangaka is Ooishi Naho.

I thought Julian was working on an English translation of the manga.

Off topic, concerning your signature, I just saw that episode of South Park and I will definitely have to say “Gay Fish”.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

They're saying basically the same thing they are saying in the anime, and yeah it's not Toriyama

The only difference is pretty much the appearance of Tenshinhan and Chaozu.

Oh yeah, i forgot about that. I was so happy when I heard they would be there, even if they were just background characters

It is a surprise!
I wonder if Toriyama is the responsible.
It is possible that in Buu's saga Toriyama wanted to bring Tenshinhan to the tournament and Toei simply said "no,you can't bring him".
The mangaka still forgot Tenshinhan's cape, now i wonder if Tenshinhan will make a Kikoho in the end to save someone.
It would be nice and logical.

Tenshinhan himself told everyone that they probably wouldn't see him again at the end of the Buu saga. Which seems like an odd thing to say, considering how 'small' Earth seems at that point.

Edit: Whoops, I meant at the end of the Cell saga, not Buu saga.

It is odd, probably Toriyama's way to take him out of the z-group.
However, he shows up to fight Buu.

Didn't he say that at the end of the Cell Saga?

I think Toriyama's story had Tien and Chaozu, but they just weren't included because of Tien's seiyu.
I haven't seen part 2 of the manga but my guess is Tien uses the Kikoho and Chaozu the Dodonpa in the part where everyone is using their special attacks

Could someone put that up again? The old megaupload doesn't work anymore.

The original idea was provided by Toriyama, but the actual script for the special was written by Takao Koyama.

Ok,but who is the responsible for the cast?
I'm saying this, because in the manga there is Tenshinhan and in the animated special there isn't.

Any of the differences between the manga version and the original special would most likely be due to Ooishi Naho, the manga version's artist.
