Also, was it ever said that Piccolo's 'Makankosappo' would be in the movie? I'm sure I heard that somewhere. And I'm pretty sure it wasn't in the movie.

But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

DBE has maintained it's 17% on Rotten Tomatoes.
As for it's performance opening night, it came in eighth with about 2 million dollars. That's got to sting a bit.

Box Office Mojo wrote:The other new nationwide release, Dragonball Evolution, disappointed out of the gate with an estimated $2.1 million at 2,181 sites. That points to a first weekend of around $5 million, or about the same as Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and a far cry from The Forbidden Kingdom, TMNT, Mortal Kombat and even Bulletproof Monk among comparable titles.

I watched it again with a different group of friends, one of them is an otaku and she's completely obsessed with anything related to Japan, she just lost it when Goku entered his room and noticed a soccer poster on the wall, she started screaming "what the hell is that? what is wrong with the filmmakers?" and stuff, everyone just started laughing and we pretty much agreed that was the best part of the movie
Also, curiously unlike what other people said happened to them, my cinema didn't kick us out during the credits, they didn't turn on the lights or even opened the door until after the scene with the weird lady

I really hope Evolution will improve it's revenue enough to warrant a sequel. I'd love to see it.MisterFlashdude wrote:DBE has maintained it's 17% on Rotten Tomatoes.

On a side note...fuck Rotten Tomatoes and their ratings, I hate that site.

Alright, feedback to posts I missed while at work-
And just leaving Grandpa Gohan dead without even having a “no, it was my time to go and I had a good life” scene was very awkward., even for this movie.
Was it just me or did the time jump around really weird? One minute they’re saying the eclipse was in two weeks, then suddenly it was in one?
I’ve always believed you could transfer raw chi in desperate situations just to keep someone alive- it’d wreck up your body a bit but it would keep you breathing. The fact that he went through all of his motions and used the named blast though...... o_O no sense.
What were all those interviews he did where he was talking about the two of them very separately then? Like when he was addressing the fact that Pic and Daimaou were -not- the same person, so that’s why the movie Daimaou was so different from the Pic we know and love?Travis Touchdown wrote:On the Piccolo Daimaou over Piccolo Ma Junnia thing, if I remember right, James Marsters said that this Piccolo was neither Daimaou or Ma Junnia, but rather, they were going to combine the two into the same character for the movies into Lord Piccolo.

Ok. See my rant to VenonSymboite (bottom of page 174) for everything that’s wrong about what you just said about Son vs Chatku. He doesn’t begin to resemble him, in any possibly way. And Yamcha sounding like effing Sabat (since he seems to have been written off the same script after all) is a bad thing just to let you know. And I seem to remember the original Pikkoro Daimaou being.... crazy. Just a little. Crazy and actively nasty as shit, not just standing back casually devoid of all emotion watching his peekaboobs minion doing everything. And speaking of Mai, one spoken line doesn’t mean she was written or developed well <_<DB_Fan1991 wrote:I just saw Dragon Ball Evolution today and you know what I liked it.
Absolutely. Shit, the scene introducing Mai could be two minutes of her ninjaing around and segway into her freeing Daimaou and that would have massively improved the movie.Chrono Trigger wrote: If it was longer and added some stuff like:
A scene totally focused on Mai explaining who she was: 8 to 10 minutes.
A scene showing her freeing Piccolo: 5 to 8 minutes.
