As most of people, I'm too skipping Garlic Jr. saga, because it's not much entertaining...... Commando Spice? WTF, they aren't even equal to previous Garlic's henchmen...... Then I really don't understand that previous Kami stuff, it's really weird and bizzare...... And on the top, I was bored to death with that climax fight against Garlic. Nothing new, nothing goes deeper, It's the same battle routine from previous episodes again and again + garlic is immortal, that's really boring, because I saw him in first movie, where he was top evil guy, greater than Piccolo and he gained immortality and that was cool, immortal guy, how we are supposed to get rid of him??!!! So I was excited.... Now, that immortal no-funny idiot is back, He's got from his eternal prison with bunch of total cretins. What now? Even if Gohan will shit his pants totally off, he can't win match with immortal warrior!!!! So you are prepared to see about some 5 episodes with final fight and you know for sure, that they can't kill somewhat immortal and then, god damn it how original, they will sealed him away to some other realm again....... If will TOEI manage to come up with Garlic Jr. for third time, I will kill some neighbors

This idea is already included in Tenkaichi Budokai 3, because it's in Special Saga sectionShinRogafuken wrote:I think most people would be happy if they condensed this saga into one of the DBZ Movies (4.5 lol) and maybe had it only going on for 2 hours.
Because seriously, I think the Garlic Jr. Saga is an interesting overall plot that would work well in a movie.

I seriously skipped it last time I watched DB all the way through. I just think the arc is a waste of time.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

This is very, very true. I'd rather see a Cooler saga in the anime and a Garlic Jr sequel movie as movie 5. Cooler being a saga (ie: multiple episodes instead of the length of 2) could easily remove all plotholes and even give more interaction with other characters. Meanwhile if Garlic Jr was a movie, I wouldn't give a damn about the irrealistic power boosts, lame plot, and continity errors.ShinRogafuken wrote:I think most people would be happy if they condensed this saga into one of the DBZ Movies (4.5 lol) and maybe had it only going on for 2 hours.

I don't mind the Garlic Jr saga, I think Piccolo and Kuririn needed some attention. Two great characters not given nearly the exposure they deserve.
But there's no escaping the fact (as others have already said) that it makes absolutely no sense. It's very random and just kinda flaps about the place. You don't ever get a grasp of how strong anyone is in relation to each other. And there are several moments when characters look like they're near death, and then they just jump back up again...
It was also pretty ridiculous how none of the characters seemed to possess any blood in the saga. Given the beatings they all got, you'd expect them to be bruised somewhat.
And the Kami/Popo scenes... eugh... so tiresome and bland. The "Vegeta in Space" scenes were interesting but nothing special.
The Garlic Jr saga had great potential. If they could've made it make sense, beefed up the action some more and give the characters more tangible power levels - it could've been something special. A ten-episode arc packed with action would've been the perfect follow-up to the long, drawn-out Frieza era.
Instead they chose to slap it together as they went along, and produced something tolerable, but very random and for many pointless.

In a nutshell: Likes the sub and the dub and barely ever posts.

Does anybody else not like how the entire Garlic Jr. arc had better animation than canon arcs? Just kinda seems like you'd think that Toei would've used lesser animation on filler rather than non-filler arcs.

You know, I always did think that the Garlic Jr. Saga looked much nicer than the Trunks and Android Sagas. Something I noticed while watching Season 4.Vekurotto wrote:Does anybody else not like how the entire Garlic Jr. arc had better animation than canon arcs? Why I like "Eclipse" by DoraMouse: it actually makes the Garlic Jr Saga consequential.
The Garlic JR saga had the same issues going with it as GT: some decent ideas that were executed poorly. I'm not particularly hateful of it, though... though it's been a while (heh, like ten years...) since I last saw it...
It was a movie that wanted to be a part of the show. *imagines the DBZ movie villains on "Dragonball Idol" competing to see who gets to appear in filler*
