DragonBall The Movies Disc's #13 & 14 Dissection.

Post by Tanooki Kuribo » Thu Apr 02, 2009 9:06 pm

Hey there, just another dissection of the DragonBox The Movies single disc's. This time I will be doing #'s 13 and 14. If you missed the first one you can check it out here.

So the cover art. Here they are spread eagle...

Image

Image

The disc's themselves seem to position the art in a different way. I gotta say I really like the arrangement on the disc 13 better then it was arranged on the cover. Look out Trunks! There is a giant fist coming towards your head!!!

Image

For disc 14 though, I like this arrangement and I also like the cover art arrangement so. Either way for me is cool...

Image

Meh, the cards...

Image

The character albums. Where is that image of Trunks from? Is it from the episode he first appeared in?

Image

Image

The backs...

Image

Image

And this image is the image behind the disc tray. It has been the same on every release so far!

Image

Speaking of "more of the same"... The menu's are still exactly the same on all the disc's. The only difference being the "DragonBall" logo instead of the "DragonBall Z" logo. :? I don't know man, I just think it's lazy. They have this new art to play around with and they just choose that one image? Bull poopie.

Image

Extra's include the trailers for whatever movie you are watching, along with other new trailers for other single disc. I guess I got a kick out of it.

Image

Another extra is an image of the movie poster (depending on what movie you have in of course). I don't understand why they chose to make the image so small. I don't really get the point. I would be happy if I could examine the poster in better detail but no, its just a tiny shitty image...

Image

Another cool tidbit was about all the figures you could get from some... promotion? I don't know what it is.

Image

Image

Image

They also showcase past figures you could have gotten from past uh, promotions? I know you get these collages of figures or something I just don't know how one obtains them.

I think that's about it. Sometime in April Iam gonna be posting another dissection of two more DragonBox The Movies single disc. I' am pretty sure one is the first DragonBall movie, and I forget what the other one was... I don't have them yet so... After that Iam done with DragonBox The Movies single disc's

So much neat stuff. X3 Thank you for sharing!

I like that they included Saiyaman and Saiyaman 2 on the cover. Also those faux-filmstrips look really nice. :3
On hiatus.

They're bonus presents you can get for sending in all of the DVD Point Cards. Honestly, these are by far the worst ones of all 4 series.

Here are the respective pages for acquiring the bonus figures for the DB, DBZ and DBGT series', but they haven set one up for the movies point cards yet; though it's pretty much the same for each one:

http://www.jumpland.com/dvd/first/point ... html#info4
http://www.jumpland.com/dvd/z/point/index.html#new
http://www.jumpland.com/dvd/gt/point/index.html

Sadly, I don't think you can get these if you live outside of Japan...

Is that all of the movies singles that you own/will own?

Thanks for another awesome dissection!!

Why are these so bad?

I too like the disc cover for "Movie 14." The arrangement of everything works very nice.

All this new cover art really makes me wonder why they went so lazy with the menus. Is it for some kind of consistency? Like when you pop in a movie and see that menu you know it's from the Dragonbox collection rather than another release of the movie? But who cares about that? I wish they would have put more variety in it.

Thanks for the dissections Tanooki. You always supply us with HQ images. That's what I like about you. When you do things, you don't do them half assed. Well, for Dragonball atleast. I don't know about your personal life

Well, compared to the other bonus presents, these do look somewhat like poop. And honestly, Brolly is the most over-done villain ever; why do we need another figure of him, especially one that looks so cheesy? And the same can almost be said for Cooler and Gogeta. Toei could have just as easily done figures of characters like Hildegarn, Bojack, Janemba, Dr. Willow and all of the others that a million figures haven't already been made of. I personally think a Hildegarn figure would have looked badass!

And they practically did that same Cooler figure pose for the DBZ bonus present when they did Freeza.

Cooler I don't find to be over done, but he does look similar to Freeza (which I like). I would like a Dr. Willow too, since I've never seen him as figure or anything.

You just have to send them the codes that come on the cards, and if you sent them all in you get the diorama or figures from each series that you bought.

You don't have to mail the cards anywhere, just type in the codes on the Toei site. Navigating the site will be pretty difficult since it's all in Japanese, but if you do manage to get as far as purchasing all of the individual discs, I'm sure we can help you get the bonus figures ordered.

One question: can someone post caps? Obviously not as important as if it were a Remastered set (as we know this was really remastered), but I've always wondered how the DBox Path to Power looked.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Here are some screenshots over at MFG: http://myfavoritegames.com/images.aspx? ... e_4_v2&n=1

They are JPEGs, so the quality is slightly lower than what you'll really get, but just in case no one posts real screenshots, you can look through these. Here are some examples:

Wow, I wasn't expecting it to look THAT much better than FUNi's. Thanks Rambo!

I had these lying around, so I figured I'd post them. I made these when the Dragon Box first came out, and I'm sure they're posted elsewhere on the forum, but I don't know where exactly. Anyway, they're in JPEG format too, as I didn't mess around with PNG back then. If anyone wants some higher resolution lossless shots, I can certainly try to grab some. ;)

I distinctly remember taking this just because I thought it was hilarious that Toriyama's credit was shown over Goku's bare ass. Other than that, it's not too exciting.

That's an... interesting choice of 'caps there, Hujio.
