Bulma's hair

It's probably been discussed before but it's been bugging since forever. How come Bulma's hair in the anime is blue, when it was purple manga? While Trunks kept his hair color. And since I'm on topic, how come it wasn't re-colored for Kai

Also they kept herpurple color for the 10th anniversary movie thing

Well, in the first chapter of the manga, her hair was blue, but for some reason Toriyama changed it after that.

To answer the question...... we don't know. Maybe they thought the blue hair looked great so they decided to keep it. And Trunks' hair is just a mistake.

I prefer her hair purple. personally. And I'm wondering, does anyone know whether Dr. Briefs's hair was purple in the manga as well as the anime?

I don't think so, I thought Dr. Brief's hair was supposed to be white. As can be seen on the Tankoubon/Kanzenban covers, Trunks hair is supposed to be a much deeper shade of purple than it was in the anime, but GT had it right.

When asked about colors, Toriyama says this in the first Daizenshuu:

"I don't make a conscious effort of it, but when I color them I just imagine they might look good in this color or that. But I almost never look back at my old drawings so sometimes the colors between the old drawings and the newer ones are different."

According to Viz Media's translation anyway.

I'm not sure if he's referring to Bulma's hair here, but I'm sure this has something to do with it. Since the manga is black and white, I guess he leaves it up to the reader to decide.

I'm not sure why they decided to give Bulma and Trunks two different hair colors in the anime, maybe they just thought that Trunks looked better with purple hair and didn't feel like changing Bulma's hair to match.

Looks purple to me, at least in the anime. Maybe a lighter shade than Trunks', but still..

The simple explanation is that Dr. Breefs is a wizard who used his magic to create Capsule technology. He's also a Metamorphmagus, which Bulma inherits, thus her hair tends to be unsure of what color it is. Needless to say, this really irritated he-who-must-not-be-named, but timeline discrepencies resulted in his horcruxes getting eaten by the dragonballs, so Dr. Gero used what was left to create radical weaponry for the Red Ribbon Army.

And that's why Buff Buu is stronger than Chibi Buu.

I ... still think Blue-haired Trunks would be odd.

Personally I prefer Bulma with blue hair, I quite like Trunks with his lavender shading. I guess he could have had black hair like his father, But then all the other Saiyan's have black hair and he wouldn't have been so original.

I'm glad Bulma didn't have purple hair in the special!

I like Bulma with purple hair. Though I do find it hard to imagine her Trunks-appearance afro hair in that color.

But am I the only one who looks at anime Bulma and sees green hair? Bluey green, but I'd still call it green rather than blue. Maybe I'm going color blind.

Torquoise, really, but I'd still lean towards green.

I'm not colour-blind or anything, but the first time I watched the 10th anniversary special I didn't even notice her hair was purple until 20 minutes in

.

And I'm usually the first person that spots these kinds of things.

Referring to the green vs. blue, it seems in most of Asia, including Japan, green is treated as a shade of blue. This seems right to me.

Of course, I am partially colorblind. Sometimes, I can't tell green from red, but only certain shades. I'm all the time failing colorblindness tests printed in magazines and such. Finally, everyone tells me my step-dad's car is blue, when I insist it's green. Come to think of it, Bulma's anime hair is about that color.
