I don't think I could watch something that long with a green\yellow tint to it.
Well, I watch it sometimes for comparisions, sometimes for nostalgia, and sometimes to listen to the Arabic voices performances... So, I kinda like it...

But............ I think it's better for me that the dub was heavely censored...!! Why?!

Because if it wasn't censored or had stupid rewrites, I wouldn't be bothored to seek for the original Uncut version of the series <<< I'm not the *only* one who did such a thing, right? riiiiiight?!

Wow... just keeps getting better, doesn't it? Did they dub all of Dragon Ball?

Nostalgia! That's what I figured. Well, then I can understand why you'd actually buy these. We had a heavily edited version of DragonBall and DragonBall Z in the late 90's here in America. I would buy those episodes if they released them in a new box set with crappy art, even though nothing will ever beat that horrible box art you got right there!

Not even FUNimation's cross-eyed Vegeta? or Freeza-arc Goku for "Season" 6 and Raditz-arc Piccolo for "Season" 7? :D

Or even better... Cell-arc Vegeta on Movie 7 & 9 DF?

Have you run some kind of filtering (through ffdshow etc) on those FUNimation screencaps?, or are they downloaded episodes, because the picture looks really blurry and no-where near as grainy.

We all started with bootlegs before purchasing the offecial releases.........
In other words... Yep, those are from (scumbag ripping group name removed by administrator)'s ripped versions... I had them for atleast three years before imported anime DVD's reached our local shores.

At least the images are presentable, and don't look like somebody who's experimenting with Adobe Illustrator for the first time.

Man, this Arabamic version sucks. I'd rather wait until Liongates's license expires and Funimation will be able to release Dragon Ball Season 1 in uncensored

FUNimation already have released it uncut and bilingual, though only in Australia, it's still available, though only in a box set.

You are mistaken. The company who licensed Dragon Ball hasn't expired so there is no way Funimation will release first 13 episode in uncut until then.

Uh. No.

Lionsgate's sub-license of the first 13 episodes of Dragonball only extended to the United States, as they do not own the home distribution rights in Australia for those episodes, FUNimation was able to release them in a two disc set with the English dub and Japanese audio with subtitles.

I and many other people on this forum own the set in question, and it is currently available from Madman in a fat-pack of the first half of the series.

No, he's right. They have the first 13 episodes uncut in a box set called "The Saga Of Goku".

It also has the original Japanese version subtitled in English.

I'm not championing Madman here or anything, but I can guarantee you that a season set style release of DB will be nowhere near as cheap as $75 Australian dollars for half of the entire series, as for box art you can't tell me the season set releases look better than the recent Madman fatpacks, they look pretty damn good.

But yeah, the whole PAL/NTSC thing is a bit of an issue so it's understandable that you want to wait for a US release.

I can get them here for about $65-69 or a bit less (in) Australian dollars. I just have to have a look around. I'll get them soon enough.

I think not taking the regional issue into account, there would be no point of getting a Dragon Ball Season Set release if you already have them all on single DVD (like myself and I'm sure many others on this very Forum). If you don't have them, then yeah, totally makes sense, but if you do, why get them again? GT wasn't cropped, but who knows, maybe they'd crop Dragon Ball? If that's the case, then yeah, sure. But if not, what the hell for? Already got American audio with Japanese music.

Through my adventures of researching these sets, I've discovered that they aren't the end all ultimate Dragon Ball set. There are issues with the conversion from NTSC to PAL. From what I understand there was a poor conversion that caused some interlacing. Perfectly fine when watching it on a tube television, but when viewed on a computer monitor, it's headache inducing.

I've also learned that the North American release of every other saga except for the first one, is of terrible quality itself. Somewhat cropped sides and horrible compression apparently make these a "meh" release.

A Dragon Ball Season Set would be highly welcome from me. FUNimation is sitting on a goldmine, as far as I can see. I just hope they don't over-remaster like the early Z sets, or make it all blurry like the GT sets.
