I dunno...I just saw the third episode, and it felt like I was watching the Raditz fight in fast forward or something.
I understand the whole "take Kai as its own entity" thing, but even when you do *that,* it still feels awkward and fast paced.

I dunno, I felt like it was far better than the original anime version.

There were fewer Raditz episodes in Kai than there were in the original American dub (that one had 4). But honestly, I'm kind of happy with the speed that the show is moving at.
The one thing I really don't get is that we all knew ahead of time that Kai was probably about 100 or so episodes. The original was 291. Therefore, to cram all of that material into 100 episodes, the show would need to move roughly 3x as fast. I think we're going to see huge cuts and edits over the next couple of training episodes. I expect Vegeta and Nappa to land on Earth by episode 11 or 12 (I think the original American dub was episode 15), and I would imagine the whole 'Saiya-jin Saga' will be over by episode 20-22. I just think there's more that can be cut out of these earlier episodes than there is from the later episodes.
By the way, as an aside, and maybe this already came up somewhere else, but will Kai feature Garlic Junior?

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up info dude! Have you worked on any other re-animated scenes since last time?Wasted Wisher wrote:Based on what I've seen so far, obiwan23's estimation of the pacing seems to be spot on.
I've already seen some shots for episode 12, Nappa's already getting beaten down by Goku...

Personally i don't think it was moving too fast, at least the fights are realistically long, and don't meander with entire "standoff" episodes. I was happy how quickly they dealt with Raditz, quickly and succinct.
The extra bits added in like the opening scene in episode one worked a treat, i just hope they remove all the "remember this, that happened all of two episodes ago, but! if you don't remember here it is again!" flashbacks
If it keeps going at this pace they'd probably be at Goku v Frieza at episode 25-30 and will hopefully last all of 3 or 4 episodes, 2 for Goku v Frieza and 2 for SSJ Goku v Frieza. maybe 5 episodes if they wanna make the transformation scene longer and more epic.

At the current pace, Goku could start and finish his training with Kaio in one episode if they wanted to do it that way. I hope they split it in a way that he starts the training in one episode and then end it at the end of the next episode to make it feel like more time has passed. While I personally wouldn't mind a "One year later" narrative to get it done as soon as possible, I know that it would bother a lot of people.

After reading the manga I noticed the training consisted mostly of-
Piccolo leaving Gohan alone, he gets chased by a dino and evaded it with a big jump
Goku running on Snake Way
Gohan turning Ohazru, Piccolo blowing up the mood
more Goku running on Snake Way
6 months later, Piccolo starts to train Gohan in combat
Goku finally arrives and meets Kaioh Sama
Quick shot of the humans training
Goku and Kaioh talk about the Saiyans
Piccolo/Gohan campfire talk
Training is done, Goku and Kaioh have their final talks about the Kaioh Ken and Genki Dama and all that stuff.
So all stuff like Gohan and the orphan kids, the talking robot, the humans training on the Saiyan planet, the second moon and Arlia were all filler.

What the hell? They're still keeping too much filler in. Now in Episode 4, they kept the filler scene where Kuririn visits Chi-Chi's house. Honestly, if they just removed this triffle, then we'd be able to get everything else at a decent pace. Same goes for the "Gohan in The Woods" filler crap...

Well, until there's a stick thread, I'll just post my thoughts here.
I actually didn't read the manga ahead of time this week, so I don't have anything too detailed on what was left out from the manga. I'm thinking not a lot was, since they only covered two chapter, and left in a lot of filler.
This episode covered 205-206. Chapter 205 took all of the first half (everything up to the eyecatch), and went on into the second half too.
Some filler scenes were left in. The very first scene in the episode is actually filler, the one where Chi Chi is at home knitting and Gyuumao shows up. Then there's the brief bit where Kami exits Enma Daio's palace. And there was the scene where Kuririn visits Chi Chi and fails to tell her what happened to Goku (I do love that scene though). Finally, there's a fairly long flashback to Goku's death (in the last episode!) when Piccolo tells Gohan that Goku has died.
This episode covered the scene from chapter 204 where Goku's body vanishes, which was moved from last episode (which covered the rest of 204) to this one. However, the scene where Vegeta and Nappa discuss Earthling/Saiyan hybrids and the brief bit later when they go to sleep in their spaceships have both been left out. Those scenes from the end of chapter 204 weren't in the last episode, and I had hoped that they'd be in this one.
The scene with Kuririn and co. in the plane, where Kame-sennin tells Kuririn that he should inform Chi Chi of Goku's death, has been moved. Originally it was after Goku starts flying down Serpent Road, but it's been moved to be between Goku and the oni driving to the Serpent Road and them actually arriving there. In the manga, everything with Goku and the oni was just one scene.
Speaking of the oni, was that guy sedated or something?
Similiar to the last episode where they cut out the "far across space" establishing panel, in this episode they switch straight to Goku and Kami talking with Enma Daio. In the manga, there's first a shot of the outside of the building, with a narration box that says "the afterlife". You can see souls going into the palace, and an oni with a bullhorn nearby is telling them to all form one line.

Since I figure I won't get a direct answer on Twitter from Hujio, I'll just ask here. Is there another alternative to TVAnts and Keyhole? TVAnts wasn't working at all today, and Keyhole is, to put it bluntly, junk.
