Oh don't get me wrong, the sets aren't perfect, the bitrates are vary quite a bit (especially during the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai) and the PAL conversion is quite noticeable if you aren't watching it on a PAL television (or atleast at 50hz).
As for the "cropping" though it's minimal, especially when compared to the season sets centre crop, FUNimation do have film masters for DB, meaning they can telecine it at 1080p so a 16:9 release is likely.

I'm hoping they learn... It doesn't matter to me either way, but I want them to do what the majority of the fanbase really wants. They have to have learned SOMETHING from the negative feedback. I mean, they could have cropped GT if they thought it was a good idea.Captain Awesome wrote: As for the "cropping" though it's minimal, especially when compared to the season sets centre crop, FUNimation do have film masters for DB, meaning they can telecine it at 1080p so a 16:9 release is likely.

But the thing is, they couldn't crop GT, you can't really go to animorphic widescreen from fullscreen Digi betas, the best they would have been able to do would be to slap black bars on the top and bottom.Innagadadavida wrote: I'm hoping they learn... And don't get me wrong, I would love a better release, if they re-released it in fullscreen with a nice progressive encode, I would not hesitate to pick that up.

For a temp solution VLC player has deinterlacing options that help with this.Innagadadavida wrote:
Through my adventures of researching these sets, I've discovered that they aren't the end all ultimate Dragon Ball set. There are issues with the conversion from NTSC to PAL. From what I understand there was a poor conversion that caused some interlacing. Perfectly fine when watching it on a tube television, but when viewed on a computer monitor, it's headache inducing.
Also why do people want Dragon Ball in widescreen? Z I can understand, but Dragon Ball...?

Well I would have to research ways to deinterlace while converting from .VOB to .AVI. I'm not sure if that can be done with the tools that I have. If it can be, then I will buy the sets. If not, I'll wait for a better release.Commander_Red wrote:For a temp solution VLC player has deinterlacing options that help with this.Innagadadavida wrote:

Dragon Ball in widescreen? I don't see why not. Widescreen doesn't bug me. I'll take it either way. I hope they do it full-screen to quell the potential shit storm ahead of time.

I'm confused, didn't you cite the zoomed in masters on the 4:3 sets as one of the reasons you wont be purchasing them?, but you're fine with losing more picture just because it's widescreen?Innagadadavida wrote: Dragon Ball in widescreen? Nah, that doesn't bug me so much. I said that it makes the Dragon Ball releases "meh," as in "not perfect."Captain Awesome wrote:I'm confused, didn't you cite the zoomed in masters on the 4:3 sets as one of the reasons you wont be purchasing them?, but you're fine with losing more picture just because it's widescreen?Innagadadavida wrote: Dragon Ball in widescreen? If I had to choose between zoomed in masters and Season Sets flavor widescreen, I'd go with widescreen.

I assumed they did this dub before DBZ. I know that in the Arabic Z dub, they "summon" their oozarus rather then transforming. If I was a little Arabic kid, I'd be willing to buy that; seeing as Saiyans are aliens with funky powers and what not. How did they pull it of in Dragon Ball though? Did they still have the whole "magnetic tail" nonsense?

So this company are basically the Arab FUNimation when it comes to Dragon Ball... Watch out FUNi, you have competition for the title of the shittiest distributor of the Dragon Ball series...and it's from the Middle East! *gasps!* It's the war on terror...ble licensing of the Dragon Ball series.SHINOBI-03 wrote:I still can't believe that I really believed all their re-writes like a retarded baby...!!RemiLeopold wrote:I assumed they did this dub before DBZ. It can be done I believe, I was reading something that covered it not too long ago. It was a guide to ripping dvds for amvs if memory serves me.Innagadadavida wrote:Well I would have to research ways to deinterlace while converting from .VOB to .AVI. I was just after a way to get the remastered sets to rip into epsiodes, but it pretty much covered a heap of stuff.

Males playing little boys tend to lack the charm a female can bring to the role. I believe such a practice even dates back the the earlier days of stage with characters like Peter Pan, nay?Rocketman wrote:Male characters voiced by males? The same one Oda used when he wanted Mayumi Tanaka voicing his character.Rocketman wrote:Luffy is 17. Really, it's no big deal.
