What was the craziest DB rumor...

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

best rumor outside of the ever living DBAF?

When I was FIRSTgetting into Dragon Ball from FUNimations FIRST DB dub that at the time aired in syndication on my local UPN, friends at middle school I think were either watching really bad fansubs or were being assholes with the things I was told about DBZ.

The best one he had was that Goku's grandfather (not Grandpa Gohan a biological grandpa) shows up and helps him kill his father who was the main mastermind of the Saiyan stuff (I didnt even know what a Saiyan was at this time so yeah...I didnt know what to make of it.)

I used to believe in it, but watchign the special a hundred times I find it to be impossible for here. Why would she be on Kanassa as soon as having Goku?

Here's one that's annoying the living hell out of me: Taanipu is Bardock's mate. (She's a doujinshi character, but someone got the damn rumour going that she's an official Toriyama character and that she really is his mate)

I'm not sure if I can think of a best one right now.

The craziest I heard is that Comedy Central (a channel here in the States, and most likely elsewhere, that centers around comedy) did a DB parody that lasted a couple episodes, with Kenny from South Park superimposed on top of Gohan (without his hood, meaning his foul language was absolutely non-stop, eg. "Stop hurting my Dad you motherfucker!!"), a sex scene with Goku/Chi-Chi, Vegeta/Bulma, and one involving Freeza (who is a hermaphrodite).

I later learned that there was no way in HFIL that even Comedy Central could get away with that. Plus, this was around '97, when Dragon Ball Z was running under Saban's censorship, making these rumors all the more prolific.

My rumor analis

Taresu/Thales/Turles/Tullece is Goku clone

My opinion: Unknown

Explanation: VegettoEX stats that he can be "other site of Goku" and why he want to him kill in the japanese Version? We never know how Thales was born in my opinion he IS his clone.

Tenshinhan/Kuririn/Chaozu aliens

My opinion (Tenshinhan): Quite true

Tenshinhan has 3 eyes so we can usume that he is from another planet or he is a mutant BTW till his parents weren't created this Rumor lies a mystery (I doubt it that he is a human)

My opinion (Kuririn): Unknown/False

Like Tenshinhan Kuririn parents were never made/known but , he get aged like other humans so he can be a human.

My opinion (Chaozu): True but not 100%

1.He always a kid
2.He has white skin
3.He talk childish

I remember hearing that Vegito, or Vegetto, was Super Saiyan 3 when he fought Buu-Gohan as a candy.

Now this maybe a rumor or just a bad interpretation of horrid fansubs, but this rumor is still argued till this day. The rumor is that there is a lot of cursing and obscene statements in the original Japanese version like Goku telling Nappa "Get the f**k off my planet" or Trunks telling Frieza "It takes a lot of balls to come back to life half-dead in a tin can."

Yeah, that rumor is just bad fansubbing, but that line is strangely funny.

Maaaaan. I found this one site where people were bashing the official American DVDs and saying they were only fans of the bootleg fansubs.. because that's where the "real subtitling" is and that "Funimation still cuts out stuff in the uncut DVDs, like swearing"..... x_____x If only they realized that they don't, and that they aren't swearing as harshly as they think. I've seen fansubs where a word like "Shimatta" which is barely "Damnit" was subtitled as "fuck" and it bothers me that people would just believe that all the DBZ characters are just really vulgar. ....Okay I rambled there. XD

I heard the same ridiculouse thing too; but it might be grounded in a few similiarly related edits. As I recall, the first Funimation DVD's (Ginyu Saga) toned down the swearing in the japanese subtitles. Also, if you buy a DBZ "Uncut" on VHS, it may not be uncut at all. I can't remember the exact tape, but I remember comparing an uncut VHS to the DVD, and discovered that small scenes had infact been cut out.

Yeah, I also remember the Ginyu DVD "censoring", which wasn't all that bad, I mean come on! Are you going to complain that they susbtitled "what the hell" as "what the heck"? Or "damn it" ar "darn it"?

Man, I also remember people freaking out about them spelling "Freeza" as "Frieza" in the subs.

Maybe FUNi will redo the Ginyu discs to make them fit in with the redub.

Pioneer used dub names for the translated subtitles in their dvds as well.

Except ''Freeza'' isn't a dub name. ''Frieza'' is.

Damn automatic censoring.

I've actually hear references to a third eye. When I had a headache, a friend told me to rub my forehead where my third eye would be and I once heard somewhere that if you meditate enough, a third eye will open. Seeing as how Tenshinhan is a very serious martial artist, perhaps his third eye is due to vasts amount of meditation.

Anyway, back on topic. I've heard two variations on the DB:AF/DB:V rumors. The first is set after GT where Goku is tricked into sleeping with a goddess, creating a child that is half saiyan and half goddess. The second returns us to the Future Trunks storyline where a virus threatons his world. Bulma manages to make items that are like DBs and revivies Vegeta using them. The three of them then travel back into the current timeline where they continue to live, or something like that.
