Filler scenes you wish were in the manga
There are a lot of filler scenes in Dragon Ball/Z that are great and some that are just darn awful. But which filler scenes do you wish were in the manga, and therefore canonical?
I liked the filler scene where the human Z-Fighters fight against the Saiyans in the past. I liked the idea of how Kami-Sama thought that they should face up to the threat they'll be fighting in the future, only to discover the real warriors were actually stronger. I also liked the scene where Vegeta is showering and when he comes out Bulma gives him the epic PINK BADMAN SHIRT!! The scene where Goku and Piccolo take driving lessons in order to obtain their driving licenses was hilarious too.

I always liked how Tenshinhan got to actually use the Mafuuba against Daimao in the anime. Granted, it contradicts the notion that using the Mafuuba is fatal, but it seemed like a better wrap-up to the whole subplot of Tenshinhan learning the Mafuuba than having the jar simply turning out to be broken at the last minute (I mean, how did he fail to notice that earlier?).

Everyone helping out Gohan during the beam struggle. In the manga it's just so short, cheap, and undramatic.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I didn't like that filler scene. Why? Because with only Vegeta helping out, it makes more of an impact on Vegeta's personality change. In the anime, it's like everyone helping out and then Vegeta just joins in, so no biggy. But when Vegeta's the only one who actually helps out, it shows you that he has changed from the ruthless killer he once was.Chrono Trigger wrote:Everyone helping out Gohan during the beam struggle. But that only makes sense. Why wouldn't the others help out Gohan when the planet is on the line? Their dear friend Goku just sacrificed his life and his son is the only one who stands a chance of getting rid of Cell. Of course they'd help out. I liked that scene. And I liked how it seemed so futile, it added that emotional element to it.
I actually enjoyed the Other World Tournament.

I wouldn't have liked that to be in the manga, because it contains so many plot-holes. Like how Pikkon is able to beat Super Perfect Cell, yet fights evenly with Super Saiyan Goku.TheGreatness25 wrote:But that only makes sense. Ooh, I wanted to do this topic a long time ago...
Filler I liked to be in the manga... Goku helping Namu's village, early Silver episodes, Goku & Chichi's mini wedding adventure, the driving episode, Anoyoichi Budokai, and Movie 9.

No, no. That scene where Goku and Pikkon go to Hell and round of the old villains was really bad in my opinion. I just meant the tournament itself. And how Goku and King Kai go to visit the Grand Kai, etc. Just feel-good kinds of episodes. But yeah, when they go down to Hell and round up all the baddies and Goku becomes a weird quasi Super Saiyan... Yeah that was bad. Who the hell came up with that anyway?
I want Goku and Kid Buu's fight to be longer. That SSj2-level "warm up" portion of their fight in the anime was incredible. I wish it had been in the manga.

Same here. Plus it would be easy to explain the non-death aspect: we see him and Roshi training to use the mafuuba, right? From this, we could argue that it's the same principal as a Kikoho, in that being too weak is what kills you. It could still even keep the cracked pot aspect: in order to prevent Tenshinhan from saving the day with the mafuuba, successfully using it is what causes the pot to crack, resulting in Piccolo escaping and Tenshinhan still being up the creak.Herms wrote:I always liked how Tenshinhan got to actually use the Mafuuba against Daimao in the anime. Filler I'd like: all of the Bardock special (Trunks: The Story style) instead of a cameo, a variation of movie 5, the Anoyoichi Budokai (in which Goku wins by going SSJ2 instead of Super Kaioken), the origin of the Saiyans (Tsufuls or no Tsufuls).

There's a video which explains how that weird quasi Super Saiyan came to be. Here's the link:TheGreatness25 wrote:No, no. Basically, the preview for the next episode shows that Son Goku is a regular Super Saiyan. But in the actual episode, we see Goku as a Super Saiyan, only his hair has been blacked in. What the video creator says is that basically, he thinks the creator didn't think Goku needed to use SSJ against the Ginyu Force and wanted to have him surprise Pikkon with it at the tournament. Still, they could've done a better editing job. Rather than a lazy hair-blackening, they could've maybe taken out the aura and made Goku's hair normal rather than spiked up SSJ-style. Admittedly, they may've been too far into the process of doing the graphic art for it and all, but the best they could do was blackening Goku's hair?
@ SSj Kaboom - But there's the argument: why would SSJ2 Goku be able to hold his own against Kid Boo, yet SSJ2 Vegeta gets thrashed? I've heard that Kid Boo suppressed his power against Goku, raised it to SSJ3-level and didn't bother going back down to SSJ2-level to fight Vegeta, but still...

The Buus have been known to play around with their opponents, and a sadistic little bastard like Kid Buu could do it too. Also, as cool as the fight was, it's not like Goku was really winning or anything.Piccolo Daimao wrote:@ SSj Kaboom - But there's the argument: why would SSJ2 Goku be able to hold his own against Kid Boo, yet SSJ2 Vegeta gets thrashed? I know. It just seems strange that Goku doesn't get owned by Kid Boo, yet Vegeta does and yet they're both in the same range of power. I know Boo was playing around with the both of them, but it's like he was giving Goku the special treatment. It was still a cool fight though. That's the only problem I have with it, why Boo would play around with one and not the other.SSj Kaboom wrote:The Buus have been known to play around with their opponents, and a sadistic little bastard like Kid Buu could do it too. Just off the top of my head, I wished the manga resembled the following filler battles and events:
1. The Piccolo versus Freeza (2nd Form) fight.
2. The Vegeta 2nd Grade Super Saiyan versus the 2nd Form and Kanzentai Cell fights.
3. The Strongest in the Afterlife Tournament, especially the Kakarrot versus Paikuhan battle.
4. The Majin Vegeta versus Kakarrot fight.
5. The base Vegerot segment and the “Innards of Buu” material.
6. The scenes where Vegeta actually hits Kidd Buu (the manga made Vegeta look pitiful as usual) and the extended Super Saiyan 3 Kakarrot verses Kidd Buu fight.
7. The longer Kakarrot versus Uub scenes.

The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

It's not about that! I just find it hard to believe that if Gohan is trying to stop Cell and he only has one arm everyone is just gonna sit there and watch! Especially Piccolo! It's stupid and unrealistic. Having everyone fly over and TRY to do something is much more believable and realistic than what happened in the manga. Not to mention it's more dramatic that way. With all the "I'll allow you to power ups", "Letting people transform", and "stomping on remote controls" it's really the smartest thing they've all done common sense wise.Senzu Bean wrote:Worst filler ever! Vegeta could have charged up the SSJ, fired the blast, and then got out of the form off-screen because of exhaustion. He gave all he could give.Senzu_Bean wrote: Worst filler ever! If Piccolo cannot do anything against Cell why would Base Vegeta would be able to?
