Dragonball Dethroned
Well, it was bound to happen. Previously, Dragonball had sold 150 million copies, but now One Piece and it's soon to be 54 volumes have sold 158 million copies.

Where'd this chart come from and what countries does it represent?
EDIT: And why is it all over the place with information on some of the other series?

True; it all depends on how you crunch the numbers. They're close, but if we assume a constant rate of readership for OP, DB will still come out ahead in sales per-book. I wouldn't be surprised if OP got a huge surge when (if ever) it ends.Olivier Hague wrote:By that logic, Slam Dunk dethroned Dragon Ball a while ago, then...B wrote:54(and growing) is a greater number than 42. Wait, are you saying that is an incorrect statement? That you CAN'T sell more when you have more? If ten people buy 54 volumes of One Piece, that's 540 copies sold. If ten people buy 42 volumes of Dragon Ball, that's 420 copies sold. Obviously, it is not a strict rule that a longer series sells more, but it definately is a factor in the final number.Olivier Hague wrote:By that logic, Slam Dunk dethroned Dragon Ball a while ago, then...B wrote:54(and growing) is a greater number than 42. He's agreeing with you, but pointing out that per-book, Slam Dunk has been the king for a while.B wrote:Wait, are you saying that is an incorrect statement? As much of a Dragon Ball fan as I am, this makes me happy as an even bigger One Piece fan. A truly epic tale. Right now, I'm in the Skypeia Arc in the Skypeia Saga, and the story is just freakin' amazing. One thing I like is how Oda (the author) seems to have story arcs planned ahead and throws little hints of things to come hundreds of chapters in advance, even in the introductory East Blue Saga. Imagine Toriyama including a quick scene every now and then showing a rift in Frieza's empire between Vegeta and other high-ranking members, and imagine that scene being shown while Goku and Krillin are training for the 21st tournament. That's how well Oda seems to have planned out One Piece. I would have never guessed, what with it's cartoony look and all.
Seriously, I would HIGHLY recommend One Piece to anybody! Really well thought out world, likable characters (no room for grouchy emo loners here), epic adventure, awesome fucking shit!!!

Since I'm a manga author, in my manga we aren't releasing Chapter 1 until the Autumn yet the final chapter has already been made
If you're a Dragon Ball fan and you haven't seen One Piece, do it.
