I think we can all agree that Kanzenshuu EX would be the obvious and best name for said wiki.
I think that it should be called: The Dragonball Bible
No more time for Daizex. Goodbye folks!

I don't suspect this would be a encyclopedia for Joe Public. This is for us hardcore fans, a perfect reference guide, of sorts.

Right, but would it not make sense for the perfect reference--in other words, an archive of 100%, totally factual information regarding Dragon Ball--to be shared with the masses so that they have reference to real information about the series, and not just useless conjecture such as that seen on the Dragon Ball Wikia?

It's the same reason why Wikipedia isn't private--the entire point is to try and spread this information as much as possible to our relevant audience. And us, of course. ;)

At the risk of stirring the pot up a tad, those particular bibles are only available to those with a thousand or so dollars to spare and fluent knowledge of the Japanese language. I daresay this Wiki will be a tad bit more accessible. =P

A "thousand or so dollars"? I think you're getting the daizenshuu mixed up with the Dragon Boxes.

I don't like the name Kanzenshuu EX. How about Super Exciting Wiki? Or Enma's Book, with a picture of Enma checking out his gradebook on the main page? Or maybe just "Yahhoi"?

Well, I recall expressing an interest in trying to obtain one or more of the Daizenshuu before. I had asked in the IRC channel about it, and it was estimated that it would probably cost about $1000+ to obtain them all. If this isn't the case, then I'd love to be corrected; I'm not really sure where to look for them or how much they're actually worth from an objective standpoint, so if they cost much less than what I've been told, then maybe I'll look into trying to pick them up again.

...of course, that's getting off topic now. =P

Who the fuck cares...?

What I mean by that is that Wikipedia is essentially the single, important, relevant, de facto "encyclopedia" that people use today. It doesn't matter that there are better sites out there with more extensive information and more thorough research. Meri even said herself that she'll typically just click through to a Wikipedia article about an X-men character if she has a question, even though Marvel has their own damn wiki about it. Why? Convenience.
Probably the major reason would be that with Wikipedia, there's simply not very much information on DragonBall on there right now. It has a pretty good page on the series as a whole, and decent sized pages on 8 of the main characters (Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, Kuririn, Bulma, Trunks, and Yamcha), but apart from that they just have a DB character page devoting about a paragraph each to the other characters, and even then it leaves off some reasonably important characters (no entries for Nappa, Tao Pai Pai, or Dabra), and nothing for minor characters like the King or the Tenkaichi Budoukai announcer. Compare this to X-Men, where they have seperate pages for 78 heroes and 68 villians, each one of about equal length to the pages for the most important DB characters.

For instance, check out this page on Karima Shapandar, a character I picked at random, and who I'd have to assume is somewhat minor, in as much as I'm reasonably familiar with X-Men and had never heard of her. It's 4 pages long in Print Preview, compared to 5 pages for Kuririn (and God did they pick an ugly shot of Kuririn). So if a DB fan has a question about a DB character, if they use Wikipedia they most likely won't find the answer, unless their question was extremely basic (even more basic than "who is Nappa?", for instance). And if they then tried the DB Wikia, they'd very likely find an answer that was completely wrong. I think that's a reason to care.

Plus, it's really just habit, and habits can change.

Whenever I had some sort of question about LOST or Heroes, I'd go to Wikipedia, but now I instinctively go to Heroeswiki or Lostpedia, because I know I can trust those sites and I know their reliable

This sounds really great, I would definitely be up for something like this.

I know it's been stated before, but if you want to see a good wiki, take a look at Lostpedia (NOT lost.wikia.com):

http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

The index at the very bottom of the home page is very useful and well-organised. Most of the articles are written well and feature good layout and pictures.

Doing something like this for Dragon Ball... well, it'll be a challenge!

But a good challenge!

You know what'll be a good addition for the wikia?

Herm's "Original manga VS Viz's translations" section

It'll be very good to have it in a semi-offecial info site like the Wikipedias

Possible names?

Mr. Satan's Super Exciting Beautiful Wonderful Bari-Bari Megaton Extreme Dragon Ball Encyclopaedia!!!

Tenkaichi-pedia would probably fit...

Tenkaichi-pedia 天下一 ピディア The Greatest Dragon Ball Encyclopedia in the World!

With a load of the best damn Dragon Ball fans alive on this side of the globe, how couldn't it be the Greatest? 8)

Also, here's a logo possibility. Inspired by Kaiou's logo with the two characters stuffed together.

It's prone to misspellings.

It would need to be incredibly easy to remember, make logical sense to fans and non-fans, and not have any type of pre-existing possible mis/pre-conceptions about it.

Nothing of what I've read for suggestions so far is any of that.

Not that Daizenshuu EX or Kanzentai are great examples of my own suggestions, either... but do as I say, not as I do :P.

With that in mind I'd sugest...

Gokupedia.

EDIT: Ah fuck there already is a Gokupedia. :(
