Up until the cell saga Goku was seen wearing the symbols of the people he trained under. Caring the Z logo on the front for Roshi, and King Ki's Symbol in the back.
So why did he get rid of them during and after the Cell saga?
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

Ok, I loled...
The Z logo as you put it is the Japanese character 亀 "Kame" for which means turtle, and the Kaio symbol, which is made up of 界王 Kai and O only squished together ontop of each other, only appeared in the Saiyan Arc.
In the Freeza Arc, his gi carried part of his name, 悟 Go.
And... I don't know why his symbol was dropped... maybe because Toriyama was getting lazy, like the story of why Super Saiyan is blond.

yeah

I didn't know what to call the Kaio symbol and I knew the reasoning behind it and I know the whole Kame thing but I didn't know 亀=kame. I cant believe I forgot about the Symbol in the Freeza arc. That one makes the most sense too. Goku has grown and now carries his own symbol(like Gohan did in the alternative timeline)

He also got rid of the tie around his belt.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

That too, was it just out of lazyness with the creators or was there some sort of significance to the loss of emblems and the changing of the belt styles. Also if its out of lazyness, why did Yamcha and Krillin keep the Kame symbol?

He wanted to give his assistant less work to do, as coloring in Gokû's hair can be a pain.

I would wager a guess and say that when Goku began training Gohan to fight Cell, he became the teacher. Therefore, he no longer needed to wear the symbols of when he was a student.

Well, he had his own symbol...
I think it would've been neat for Gohan to take on Piccolo's mark on his back and Gokuu's Go on his front, but alas...

In Volume 14 or so, Goku, Yamcha and Kuririn say they kept the Kame kanji on their gi's out of respect for Kame-Sen'nin. So maybe Goku finally lost respect for Kame-Sen'nin.
How can thou be out of breath when thou hast breat to say thou art out of breath?

Actually, don't they say that they kept wearing the Kame dougi itself out of respect?

Absurd. Didn't Son Goku stop wearing Kaio and Roshi's symbols, due to the fact that he had become a
master, himself? I don't think he ever lost respect for either of them.

Maybe Chi Chi just got tired of sewing his ripped gi up and said fuck it.

Y'know there was that one filler episode where Goku did show he had a closet full of the same gi. I totally forgot about that.

I think it's something of a small miracle that Goku even bothers wearing clothes at all. It's not like he needs protection from the elements, and he's never been all that concerned with modesty either.

People throw things at him when he doesn't.

Chi-Chi doesn't even mind it if the end of the episode where she lets Goku just stand there soaking wet and naked infront of everyone without even bothering to tell him to throw a towel on says anything.
Infact the only two people out of the group who found naked!Goku an uncomfortable sight were Videl and Vegeta.
And at the end of the series he's basically at the point where the weighted clothes aren't nearly heavy enough to help much anymore...
He probably knows (or has been told) that he's not allowed to go into town without them though.
On hiatus.
