All of this is what you get when you only have a $45m budget.Pain wrote:I'm all for a reboot, I just don't want Wong, Chatwin, Park, Tamura, or Fat to be involved.
1. Wong is just a shitty director .
2. Chatwin's acting was laughable.
3. Park isn't like Yamcha, at all.
4. Tamura was just a brainless grunt.
5. Fat was good, but he isn't cut out for this role.
6. I liked Rossum...I think she should stay for the sequel.
7. Marsters...he looks like Daimao even without the make-up. I believe that in the reboot, if he's still cast, he should get a better make-up job, or maybe he should get some CGI on it?
I really don't want any shitty stunts to be in the reboot. I really hated all of the wire-stunts, in Evolution.
DBEvolution Reboot Rumor
I partially blame the whole "writers strike panic" that was going on at the time; I think part of the reason was they rushed through the whole thing worried that the strike would continue on way longer than it did and that they'd have nothing on hand to show in theaters. (Well, its a theory).
On the whole "light vs dark" thing; I prefer light-hearted stuff, but don't mind dark as long as its "actiony" dark stuff. Admittedly the villains in Z are fairly dark (Freeza probably destroyed countless planets full of people and so did Vegeta; Cell killed by sucking people's bodies dry into husks--which I find tremendously creepy, and Buu killed nearly everyone on Earth with a single attack AND blew up the planet itself) but there's a difference between "dark" and "angsty"; the latter of which I can't stand unless there's a damn good reason for it.
A perfect example of what I find to be acceptable and enjoyable (IMO) angst would be Mirai Trunks. He's got excellent reasons for his angst, a believable backstory explaining it, and even as it weighs over his head he's able to draw in an audience and make you care about him.
Successful angst makes you care about the character and worry about them.
Failed angst only makes you irritated by the character and wish they weren't in the story to begin with because of how boring and annoying they are.
For music in a live action DB; I like orchestras. Sticking pop music songs (be they cheerful OR angsty) ruins the mood and feels gimmicky to me.

On hiatus.

I've never seen any of the "Terminator" films; all I know about them is stuff I've picked up through pop-culture osmosis. I do know that those movies did influence the Cell arc though. ^^;

"Dark" is not gonna work well with a guy with over-the-top spiky hair wearing blue tights with large shoulder-padded armor unless Vegeta's actor and a new director are just the freaking balls.
I'm hoping we skip Raditz, he is boring.
That is, if this reboot is actually a sequel written in a different tone and not a separate movie. Though I think starting over from scratch would be the best thing to do.

Didn't #16 have a T-800 skeleton?Chuquita wrote:JAPPO wrote:I think the whole Cell saga (especially Trunks' story) would seem like a "Terminator" rip-off in live-action. Trunks is John Connor.

I remember his skull looking just like the T-800's at least...
I got my Dad into Dragon Ball by showing him the Cell arc, becuase he loves the Terminator films so much, and I showed him the similarities. The Time Traveller wrote:Didn't #16 have a T-800 skeleton?Chuquita wrote:JAPPO wrote:I think the whole Cell saga (especially Trunks' story) would seem like a "Terminator" rip-off in live-action. And he mentioned that #16 reminded him of the T-800.

I've read this before but I just can't hear it. A lot of things popped into my head when I heard dub 16 but the Terminator wasn't one of them.
As for a potential reboot coming out already I'm honestly surprised. I'm interested to see what they will make next. Just think we'll have 3 different live action Dragonball origin movies to analyze if this proves true.
I wish you guys would lay off Saiyan-Professor a little. He's entitled to have an opinion too even if you disagree with him.
I'm not saying don't rebuttal but you guys are acting somewhat hostile it seems.

As for the reboot... I really do not believe it. It'd be cool, but I think the chances of just not getting a new movie is likely. I mean, all this fuss over some blog in another language... It just seems a little fishy, that's all. Where's a reputable source? It's all rumor and I don't believe it.
I wish people weren't jizzing their pants over this though. Come back to the Dragon Ball Season 1 discussion, guys. Y'know a discussion over something that's actually possible and cool.

A Japanese Dragonball film?! I think they'd go a little too far.Kendamu wrote:I'm just surprised that the Japanese haven't turned around and said, "Hey, America. Your Dragonball sucked. We're gonna do it and we're gonna do it right," like they did with Godzilla.

The big "FUCK YOU" was the "Didn't Godzilla attack New York in 1998?" "No, that wasn't Godzilla" exchange, something like that.Kendamu wrote:I'm just surprised that the Japanese haven't turned around and said, "Hey, America. Your Dragonball sucked. Later on in that movie didn't he actually take out the American Godzilla in one blow? The Time Traveller wrote:The big "FUCK YOU" was the "Didn't Godzilla attack New York in 1998?"
