Well I prefer a sequel, finish the initial trilogy and come back later and do it over again in the similar manner that they are supposedly doing with the Fantastic Four. Make money off these films, come back later, and make the silly fantasy one that everyone appears to want. I hope that the dark adult direction will be the theme for the next two films for that would make the perfect setting for Vegeta and Freeza’s entrance. I hope they make Freeza’s appearance more realistic in some manner. It is hard for me to imagine a short CGI lizard thing running around in a live action movie and everyone take it serious.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

Here is a novel idea. Do it the way it was originally created. There is no interest in a Dragonball movie thats not Dragonball. Thats not an opinion, its a proven fact. There might not be any interest in a faithful adaptation either. But it deserves a fair chance. Fox obviously thinks it has value or they would have not bought the license to begin with.

What "dark adult direction"? Evolution was anything BUT "dark" or "adult", so how would it's potential sequels be a "continuation" of a theme that wasn't there in the first place? I'm not even being snarky, I'm genuinely confused by this statement.
There'd be very little need to make Freeza CGI. Maybe just his tail (if they even kept that), but making the whole character CG would be totally unnecessary and asinine. Freeza's design as is, or hell even an "adaptation" of his design could be more than adequately handled with makeup and prosthetics, no different than Piccolo.Saiyan-Professor wrote:I hope they make Freeza’s appearance more realistic in some manner. There've been TONS of movie monsters (including in "serious" horror and fantasy films and whatnot) that have sported looks not all that far removed from Freeza.
I mean c'mon if people can accept THIS:

I think they can also accept Freeza.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Rocketman wrote:"Shonen" basically means "stupid sentimental shit" anyway, so it's ok to be anti-shonen.
Oh yes, Freeza would look incredible if the prosthetics and makeup were done well.

That's what Dragonball IS and the reason everybody wants it.Saiyan-Professor wrote:Make money off these films, come back later, and make the silly fantasy one that everyone appears to want.
You're not a fan of Dragonball at all. You're a fan of Vegeta who doesn't give a fuck about the rest. As long as there will be a guy called Vegeta who acts like a tough guy, you'll be happy.

They said that they were probably going into a more adult dark direction in the sequel or reboot. That makes perfect sense to me, Dragonball was loaded full of poop jokes while Z and GT had more serious and by standards at that time dark moments. I seriously would like to see Dragonball from a different perspective. I love the old stuff but I also like much of the new anime and manga that approaches real life situations and problems even though its fiction. Is it so wrong to want a contemporary version of Dragonball?Kunzait_83 wrote:Saiyan-Professor wrote:I hope that the dark adult direction will be the theme for the next two films for that would make the perfect setting for Vegeta and Freeza’s entrance.

I agree with you about there being a way to pull off Freeza without computer-generated imagery.
So now, you are defining what a Dragonball fan is now. Wow, I did not know that any one fan had that authority. Well according to your standards I am not, oh well I guess I have to get rid of my Box Season Sets various movies and manga because you said that I am not a Dragonball fan. I wish Mike had said something in the rules about meeting Tenshinhan-san’s litmus test before joining.Tenshinhan-san wrote:That's what Dragonball IS and the reason everybody wants it.Saiyan-Professor wrote:Make money off these films, come back later, and make the silly fantasy one that everyone appears to want.

Super secret code for dated in three months. To answer your question yes it is. You are they type of person that would give Lord of the Rings a hip hop soundtrack. Or if you were around in the 70s a disco sountrack. Dragonball is suppose to be timeless.s it so wrong to want a contemporary version of Dragonball?
If you were doing a list of the darkest moments in Dragonball most of it would be in the Dragonball portion.
1. Tao killing Bora and later little Upa having to dig his own fathers grave.
2. Demon King Piccolo (with Tamborine) killing Kuririn, Chaosu, Roshi and numerous martial artist and numerous innocents.
3. Even the stuff with Crane Hermit coming to terms with his brother being killed by a child. Moreso the anime than the manga.
You can do dark stories in the Dragonball world without doing drastic unneded changes.

In any case, my personal thoughts are that it's too soon to tell what exactly is going on, so I'm not going to worry about it too much until there's some solid information revealed. Most of what I'm seeing here is speculation; things look way too open-ended at this point to be able to draw conclusions.
I'm hoping that they go with more of a reboot, too, but either way, it's not like a second film is going to kill me. (Unless Boll DOES manage to get signed on... ) The first one didn't, obviously.
Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.

Demanding something that's 180 degree turn on the original doesn't make him a fan either. Besides, I think he is perfectly capable of responding himself.Professor likes the action orientated side of Dragonball. That doesn't make him not a fan.
Yeah, laugh it up. Meanwhile you're demanding your precious Vegeta at any cost even if it means continuing the abortion of a franchise that DBE started.Saiyan-Professor wrote:So now, you are defining what a Dragonball fan is now. The original stuff will always be there, that will remain timeless, if you are going to take this type of attitude stop watching the Movies. They take the, oh so precious “canon” material and put a different spin on it. In addition, I would make the music contemporary people change and times change. I do not hear too many Marvel Comics fans acting this way towards the Ultimates line. Concerning Dragonball I am going to be honest and say that I do not care for the earlier stuff (but I have read it), and I did not pay too much attention to it I prefer the Piccolo material towards the end, Z and GT.Victator Supreme wrote:Super secret code for dated in three months. As rude as it may sound, Tenshinhan-san has a point. What do you like about Dragon Ball besides Vegeta? You clearly hate Goku and Gohan, two of the main characters, and your vision of what Dragon Ball should be isn't what it is in the least.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Dude what is wrong with you; you are acting as if I am making the movie. I am sitting on the sidelines like everyone else. Fox would not listen to me or anyone else on here. I am just expressing my feelings and opinions. Yeah it is not the status quo but that is how I feel about this issue.Tenshinhan-san wrote:...Yeah, laugh it up. Oh I'm not going to watch the movies. I'm also not going to pass up the chance to point out how shitty they are. I love the animated movies. The animated movies were not taking a different spin. They were creating new stories using the exact same characters.Saiyan-Professor wrote:I was speaking in reference to the Dragonball animated movies.Victator Supreme wrote:...Oh I'm not going to watch the movies. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against you, but I find it hard to understand your views on the matter and consider you a fan at the same time.Saiyan-Professor wrote:Dude what is wrong with you; you are acting as if I am making the movie. You pretty much state yourself that you don't like DB in particular and tried to ridicule my earlier post stating the same thing. Your mainly a fan of Vegeta while the rest of the story comes in second.Concerning Dragonball I am going to be honest and say that I do not care for the earlier stuff (but I have read it), and I did not pay too much attention to it I prefer the Piccolo material towards the end, Z and GT.

Context defines the meaning; I was speaking about the Chibi-Kakarrot era. “Dragonball” can be used to refer to the series in its entirety or the portion that preceded Z and GT. I love Dragonball i.e. the series as a whole but preferably the latter portion but I do not care too much for the early part of the entire series.Tenshinhan-san wrote:...You pretty much state yourself that you don't like DB in particular and tried to ridicule my earlier post stating the same thing.
