Toonami DBZ
I guess you could call this the celebration of 10th Anniversary of Toonami's first debut of DBZ. Sadly, Toonami has gone and died on us, much to our dismay. Toonami has had greatest moments in past decade. It had aired many good anime, notably Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor, Tenchi Muyo, Yu Yu Hakusho, Big-O, Transformers. I know there are much more anime that what I have listed. Anyway, I'm going to post both Toonami DBZ intros and promos.If you have something to add here that I have not listed, please do so. I went so much trouble of doing this again as my Internet has frozen thus lost all info on this thread! Enjoy this as you have enjoyed when you were watching DBZ on Toonami!

Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru's #1 biggest fan
I didn't know it's been...*thinks about it*....huh, yeah I guess it would've been 10 years. Wow time flies. o_O
Anyways; I've always been a fan of Weekday Toonami.
Good times; fun shows, and awesome packaging. X3
I miss watching Toonami's DB/Z/GT, Sailor Moon, and Tenchi Muyo the most of those, but let me go down Wikipedia's list and find the shows on the block I've watched/enjoyed at some point:
In order of their introduction into Toonami's block:
Super Adventures/Roulette
Sailor Moon
Dragon Ball Z
The Powerpuff Girls
Tenchi Muyo!
Batman: The Animated Series
Dragon Ball
Cardcaptor Sakura
Outlaw Star
The Big O
Samurai Jack
Yu Yu Hakusho
Rurouni Kenshin
.hack//SIGN
Dragon Ball GT
Megas XLR
Teen Titans
One Piece
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo
Wow, there's nothing new from Toonami's final 3 years that I really watched. ^^;; *Feels kinda bad*.
I should mention that I do like how gundams look, but whenever I tried to watch Wing I'd get bored senseless with all the politics going on in it. ^^;
There are some other Toonami shows I've watched in passing, like Gigantor, Hamtaro, Blue Submarine, G Gundam, and Batman Beyond; but not regularly. I think I may have seen maybe 3 or 4 episodes of Ben 10? But during the week, not on Toonami's block.
As a result of avid Toonami viewing back in the day, I cannot watch any Transformers commercials with Optimus Prime without hearing the Toonami narrator instead and grinning in nostalgia.

On hiatus.
Gundam Wing's politics were so ludicrously complicated that my roommate and I would joke "Pull out the flowchart!" whenever each episode came on.
I still have that "Season 4" intro completely memorized.
Even more than DB/Z, probably my favorite Toonami show was Tenchi Universe. Bought the whole show on DVD. Had a truly awesome dub.

These are the original "Seasons 1 and 2" Toonami openings from 1998 to 1999, when it was hosted by Space Ghost's Moltar. Rock The Dragon only seemed to air for the TV cuts of the first 3 movies, if I remember right. The Faulconer intro never aired on TV as far as I remember.
Also, when the Garlic Jr saga first aired on Rising Sun, it had its own special opening:

Also, fun fact, Sonny Strait was the original voice of TOM before Steve Blum took over.

I made a threada loooong time ago about Toonami Digital Arsenal, which is basically a fan-made archive of everything Toonami. You can check it out if there's any others you're looking for; I think they have pretty much everything from Toonami's Dragonball stuff.

I agree. It's one of the anime I prefer listening to in English.Thanos6 wrote:Even more than DB/Z, probably my favorite Toonami show was Tenchi Universe. Bought the whole show on DVD. Had a truly awesome dub.

Does anyone know a place like this which hosts the ''CNX'' adverts? They were really awesome. I think we only got it here in the UK.
The adverts were practically amv's and lasted a good while. I've been searching for a while now for the Dragonball one that was out during the Boo saga. It had the Foo Fighters ''All my life'' track playing in the background for it.
I found one from CNX , it's not the best of quailty but it's a sample of what the adverts were like, I really wish i'd recorded them.

The original G1 series wasn't, but Japan made a lot of their own series' based on it, and even more not based on it.Kendamu wrote:Transformers was anime?
As for Gundam Wing...I've seen a lot of Gundam, and so far, Wing is one of the most boring. It's still pretty good anime, but definitely one of the lowest tier Gundam shows, in my opinion.

Toei Animation had a bit to do with G1 I think. And even Transformers Animated is barely Anime.Bussani wrote:The original G1 series wasn't, but Japan made a lot of their own series' based on it, and even more not based on it.Kendamu wrote:Transformers was anime?

And FUCK YEAH CNX! Even though there were a ton of shows they should have shown, that Toonami had shown in the USA.

CNX, channell 244 was awesome. It had the best of shows on it, and the late night kung fu subbed' movies were awesome. The closest we've had to an anime channel in the UK. I was really down when we went to ''Toonami'', it put a bit of a kid's edge on watching Dragonball/anime.The Time Traveller wrote: And FUCK YEAH CNX! Uh, Anime Central? Though it didn't show much, just...
* Bleach
* Cowboy Bebop
* Fullmetal Alchemist
* Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (1st GIG)
* Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2nd GIG)
* G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero
* Gundam SEED
* .hack//SIGN
* Planetes
* s-CRY-ed
* Transformers: The Headmasters
* Transformers: Super-God Masterforce
* Transformers: Victory
* Vision of Escaflowne
* Witch Hunter Robin
* Wolf's Rain
Anime Central have moved into a tiny slot on Showcast TV on the UK, at like... 4AM, and only shows Cowboy Bebop and GitS SAC.

What the hell is happening to the world? Toonami died, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon are still dieing(dead to me), and Kids WB is still trash. Why have all the great old shows been replaced by all that panzie preteen and kiddy nonsense. Kids in America today are being hypnotized by crap, such as Ben 10, iCarly, The Naked Brothers Band, and so so on. Oh yeah, Disney, don't even get me started. A company that once produced classic, memorable movies, is now sitting back and collecting every penny they can suck off the Jonas Brothers while constantly spitting out crappy movie sequels.
Ah the 90's and very early 2000's, good times. That's my opinion.

Kids nowadays only care about cell phones and texting. Kids now don't have imaginations cause they don't play with toys or play outside, they sit inside on AIM or Texting or Call other 6 year olds on the cell phone their Daddy got them so they would be cool at school.Krakabeast wrote:What the hell is happening to the world? Ah, the eternal cycle of complaining about "kids these days". Everyone knows kids today have no imagination, what with their radio/tv/color tv/video games/internet/cell phones/texting/twitter.

Agreed. I love today's technology, but I hate texting, or should I say the people who find it to be addicting.omegacwa wrote:Kids nowadays only care about cell phones and texting. At the risk of going off topic, I think it's kind of closed minded to assume that kids have no imagination just because they're growing up with different technologies. Kids have the same imagination as they always have, it's just being influenced by different things. Who knows what will come of it?
So yeah, Toonami and Dragon Ball! Right?
