Why not? They're actually a great way to get people to look up more articles; it's good motivation to really browse the site. They're like little nuggets of fun, for me at least.

. Y'know, like Edutainment.

And the Transformers Wiki ones are actually funny. We just have to make sure we have some level of quality control.

This is why not:

Having "quality control" for joke captions would mean we'd have to come to some common consensus on what is and isn't funny, and surely I can't be the only one who sees what a hassel that would be. We've already set a big enough challange for ourselves in making this wiki, let's not add that to the mix.

*shrugs* Well, the TF wiki does it just fine, but you're one of the driving forces behind this whole thing, so whatever you guys say goes, goes.

I don't see what the problem is as long as it isn't absurd or ridiculous. Everybody has a different sense of humor, but most people can agree on one basic element of funny. I think the jokes would make the whole thing a little more light-hearted and rewarding. Like sprinkles on ice-cream. You really don't need 'em, and not everybody cares for them... But they do make the treat a little more appealing (at least to some).

I'm with you I really find those captions exasperatingly awful.

Humor is very subjective. I might find something funny; you might not care for it at all. It's another challenge for us to decide on something aptly "funny" for a caption, then to risk someone else deciding that he's got a funnier caption and edit war over it. It's a rather silly thing to war over.
Fact, on the other hand, is fact. There's no arguing about fact.
One thing I've always liked about DB Wikia is the quotes on the top of the character pages. Is there a chance we could do something similar? Of course, we should probably try to take them from a more respectable translation, like the subs or the Viz manga.

I don't know, I think that might lend itself to some of the same problems as trying to write funny captions. How do you decide what's the best quote to put there?

Something that defines the character? Or just a quote from a moment that's generally agreed upon to be important for said character? I don't think either of these are nearly as subjective as humor. But I
also don't know how many characters would actually have quotes that fit either of those categories though. Maybe just a quote from the first chapter they appear in? It'd probably be pretty easy to agree upon one from the limited amount of quotes that appear in one chapter.

Oh, right, Viz. I forgot about those early chapters... I guess quotes from the first episode instead?

OK, how about these ideas.
Within a character page, we list their famous quotes from the series and in the same time, compare it with the dub.
Example: Goku's "Ally to good" speech on Namik

Well known fan projects?
TeamFourStar's Dragon Ball Z Abridged, Gozar's Alternate Reality DragonBall Z, Innagadadavida's Karin & Yajirobe, Dragon Ball-Multiverse and so...
----------------------------
Dragon Ball Controversies?
I don't know if there were any like a Julien's story with censored manga and initial reactions to FUNimation's orange bricks.

I certainly don't see the problem with including information about notable fan-works. Of course, "notable" is always going to be debatable, but I figure if it's even worth having a debate over, it's probably notable to include. I'd want to make sure we include global stuff, though, and not just the flavor-of-the-week American YouTube funny.
I think I'd take the Wikipedia stance that the person/group/works listed for discussion shouldn't be editing their own page, though. No problem talking about it and suggesting changes/corrections, but yeah.
RE: DIALOGUE... I think we should stay away from it as much as we can unless it's extremely relevant to the character being discussed (see: Broli - "Kakarottttttttooooooo~"). Too many nuances to be lost or ignored, too much potential to slip-up with mis-translations/dub-isms, etc.

I did enclude Dragon Ball-Multiverse in my suggestions. It's not a youtube thing, and it's well known internationaly ((or so I believe)).

Oh, I know. I was trying to expand upon what you said, rather than contradict it

. For example, I think Toyble's
AF would be another great inclusion (Japanese origin, how it come about in the first place, etc.).

There's an issue with including notable fan related works, mainly the creators of them deluded about how well known they are.
This page is clearly written by the author of the comic, Malik666, so let's hope he doesn't think his NOTABLE FAN COMIC WINK WINK WINK deserves to be on our Wiki.
Dragonball Fanon Wiki wrote:Many fans of DBNA consider it an equal or close-second to Toyble's DBAF.
Dragonball Fanon Wiki wrote:The "DBNA vs DBAF" Debate
While DBNA has only been on the internet for the past 4 years, some have considered the strip on par with Toyble's Dragon Ball AF, in terms of both art and storyline. Each strip, though quite different, offers the fans quite a satisfying view on a continuation of the Dragon Ball franchise.
I don't want people to think I'm trying to cause conflict with Dragon Ball AF in any way. I'm simply offering a different take on things. I enjoy Toyble's work, he's putting out an amazing book. Our art style, while similar, is very different. I'm opting for a more manga-styled line-art, while Toyble's more closely resembles the animated style of Dragon Ball. Our original characters are different, our stories are different, and even our Super Saiyan 5's are different. We each have something special to bring to the table, its just a matter of which one you prefer to read. I'm not here to try and out do Toyble or anything. I just want to put up an original story that people can read, re-read, and enjoy. Isn't that what a fan comic is all about?"
(TL;DR - "
I'm so amazing, my mom says I'm as good as some Japanese guy")
Dragonball Fanon Wiki wrote:Malik666 made an edit on 26 May 2009
The comic isn't even readable.
We don't exactly have to worry about
KaiserNeko writing "
Dragon Ball Z Abridged is considered the best Abridged Parody series, and has proven it self to be the funniest show in the universe.
The creator has this to say: "It wasn't meant to be so great, everyone loves it, and even Funimation, Toei, Shueisha and Akira Toriyama have told us how great it is, so you know it's the best!!!""
Herms is going to give birth when he sees the Dragonball Fanon Wiki...
Here's my favourite ORIGINAL CHARACTER DONUT STEEL!

What is DBNA?
Fan created works could be a problem that's why most wikis don't include them. It could easily turn into an advertising page
