I dont think comparing the Joker to Vegeta is accurate. The Joker is just a psychopath with no personal goals he just does it for the laughs. Vegeta does have a goal. His whole life after meeting Goku was focused on 1uping him. Vegeta is like Batman because(like I said before) hes the only one who could possibly take out Goku if necessary, he is Goku(Superman's) dark side and(as much as Vegeta would hate to admit it) Goku(Superman) is the closest thing to a friend Vegeta(Batman) will ever get.

Hence what I meant by especially the movies where he saves Goku as he wants to be the one to finish him off. If you get a chance, read Mad Love or if you have vols. 2 or 4 of Batman the Animated Series, watch The Man Who Killed Batman or the Mad Love episode, which is very true to the comic, except for a few things due to pacing. Joker really takes this position with Batman there.
