Oh you know, those darn kids. The ones who won't ever get off of my lawn. And I would have gotten away with my evil plan, if it weren't for them.Big Boss wrote:Who are "those kids"?

I agree with Innagadadavida: I think the original dragonball-hunt storyline is great, and more than worthy of being featured in the commercials for this set. Not too mention that those are of course the episodes that are finally being made available uncut and all, while the 21st TB episodes had previously been released by Funi. Even if your standard fan or newcomer won't be familiar with the decade-long snafu behind the release of these episodes, Funi can still easily and accurately emphasis their importance.

I'm positive this preview, especially with "Your wish is granted", is Funimation's way of saying "Hey look we actually have the first 13 episodes now!" and I think that's what most American Dragon Ball fans want these days.Raki wrote:They are completely responsible for all the leaks that have happened.gallagtor wrote:Keep in mind that this set hasn't even been officially announced yet. Funi wants to keep this under wraps for the time being, even if they're doing a piss poor job of it.Victator Supreme wrote:Weird to see a company upset about free advertising.
Being as this set has the 21st Tournament on here, they should be marketing the fights instead of having clips from the first few episodes. Those fights will cause those kids to be excited and want to buy the set. Remember, the first 13 episodes are almost boring as hell. I like them but they won't cause the average person to want to be interested in Dragonball.
I think when Raki says "Those kids" he's referring to the American youngsters who grew up with the "RAWR XTREEM DEE BEE ZEE LINKIN PURK ACTION!" side of the series that Funi put out.

Even still, I never cared for the RAWR XTREEM DD BEE ZEE LINKIN PURK ACTION. After I got hooked, I was too busy trying to piece together the events of Dragonball, the rest of Z, and GT using only shady internet websites. It was the mystery of having no clue what the hell was going on that kept me enthralled.
Nope, more like the kids who watch the Shonen stuff of today. Showing tournament scenes along with the scenes from the early Dragonball hunt would be ideal. Showing only the Dragonball hunt to those who have never seen the episodes on this set will cause them to get a narrow impression. Like I typed before, the Dragonball hunt and introduction of the characters is great. But what really causes Dragonball to take off is the 21st World Tournament.Big Momma wrote:I think when Raki says "Those kids" he's referring to the American youngsters who grew up with the "RAWR XTREEM DEE BEE ZEE LINKIN PURK ACTION!" side of the series that Funi put out.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

That would be Disturbed, FUNimation wouldn't be able to afford Linkin Park at that time.Big Momma wrote:I think when Raki says "Those kids" he's referring to the American youngsters who grew up with the "RAWR XTREEM DEE BEE ZEE LINKIN PURK ACTION!" side of the series that Funi put out.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

Not that they are intentional. It's just they could have waited a little longer before going public with them.gallagtor wrote:No, that would be Wal-Mart and the guys who did the music for the trailer. Not very likely that anyone actually thought he did, but I just wanted to make sure everyone knew.

... And I've totally ruined SSJ Kaboom's awesome joke... Sorry 'bout that.
Er, Krakabeast, I don't really understand why you brought up "Rock the Dragon," unless I missed a post a page back or something. The reason they mentioned Disturbed was because FUNi put some of their songs in the English dubs of a couple of the movies. Or something.
They haven't gone public with anything yet.. That's why it's a leak. I don't really see what you're saying.Raki wrote:Not that they are intentional. Wouldn't it be really funny if this were all just some big setup? These listings appear out of nowhere, Funimation won't comment on them, then the trailer shows up, and Funimation makes comments about announcing something at Anime Expo. Then, once Anime Expo rolls around, they hold a panel and announce the release of....the 2008 Jump special. When asked about Dragonball, they reply that it's still stuck in licensing hell. It's all a ruse! Don't be fooled, they're going through all this, even making the fake trailer, just to fuck with us
But seriously, damn, because of my need to collect a complete set with no inconsistencies, I'll probably end up selling off all of my old Dragonball sets and buy all the new ones....and at that point, I would have to seriously consider selling off my GT singles and buying those boxed sets also, because they wouldn't "match" with DB and DBZ (because I already went through selling the DBZ singles in favor of the bricks). Curse you, Funimation! *shakes fist*

If Funimation lies about this, I'll never buy anything from them again. Which is probably why I think this is real. Too much stuff just starts to magically appear and all for a ruse? I don't think so.sailorspazz wrote:Wouldn't it be really funny if this were all just some big setup?
