English Dragon Box Release
Dvd region free playback software exists. Depending on your drive you may also be able to update your pc's dvd drive firmware to a region free version.
If you live in a NTSC region dvd playback on your television will not be an issue. You need to have a region free player or have a player that allows you to set the region via special controller codes.
Many philips players are are NTSC and PAL compatible and can be set up to be region free. My dvd player was originally locked into region one. With two seconds of online research I found this website http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks I was able to set the player to region 0 "plays all regions" and it has played many european dvd releases for me without problem.
I found my player listed on the site and followed the easy instructions. All you need to do is dial in a sequence of numbers on your controller and dial in the region code you want.
There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to enjoy the new dragonbox releases because of the region encoding. If you need more help or a better explanation just send a pm.

I'm actually inclined to agree, so long as it isn't UUE's fake Japanese. I still laugh at those promos, all you need is a simple understanding of katakana to be able to find them hilarious.Ramoro-san wrote:I for one think that would be kind of awesome, haha. It would help me work on my Japanese. But it's not likely.SHINOBI-03 wrote: It would be funny if they left the Japanese menus as they were...!! Another way to keep the casual fans away
The scouter menus look cool, though I haven't seen them first hand on a television screen. They're not unnecessarily intense graphically, but they still have a nifty look to them. FUNimation's probably going to keep them.

When the Scouter Menus came into the equation, I was thinking maybe the music from the Scouter menus would be used, too.Raki wrote:I'm in agreement on the scouter menus. While we are on the subject of menus, what music will Funimation use? Maybe I will be able to listen to it instead of the season set menu noise.

Well, I don't know about the eye-catches, but they do have a marathon mode type function.Rory wrote:Is it true that the Dragon Box contains a "Story Mode" option, which is the equivelent of Marathon Mode? Please tell me this is true! If it is, does this also skip the eyecatchers?

I have 2 DVD drives in my computer; one set to R1 and one set to R2. I've bought several Japanese R2 DVDs (none of them Dragonball though...), and what I've done with them is copy them to my computer with my R2 DVD drive possibly edit them to add my own subtitles or even English audio track and then reburn a region free DVD that I can play on my TV.EE_Bob wrote:Dvd region free playback software exists. I guess it's only appropriate that the only working SSJ2 Gohan avatar I could find is from the Dragon Box
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Region 2 is Japan. If there are Japanese fans that keep up with US releases, they probably are happy. They get more for their yen with Funi's releases. Shit if I were them, I'd import from the US for all my anime needs.Budokai23 wrote:I wonder if Japanese fans are happy for this release. The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Funimation hasn't been doing everything in regions 1,2,4 like the season sets. Especially with this, I think that it will be region 1 exclusive. Japan has been keeping the Dragon Box masters guarded, and I don't think that they would let Funimation go and distribute them to a majority of the world market.Raki wrote:Region 2 is Japan. Japanese fans had to resort to getting FUNi's releases way before the Dbox came out there. If you check yahoo japan auctions, a fair share of FUNi DB products are being sold there.Raki wrote:Region 2 is Japan. Chances are that Japanese fans who couldn't afford the Dbox release or the singles will import the US Dbox.

When I first heard of FUNimation releasing the Dragon Box's I thought it was some sick joke, but it's legit, talk about a love hate relationship for FUNi.
Fucken eh, what a great summer for DVD releases. First the G1 Transformers, and now the D-box's. It's to bad tho FUNi won't give us the option to buy the complete series all in one bang like the "Matrix of Leadership" for G1 Transformers. I sorta like it this way, since I hate waiting for seasons to be released, and that I have money to burn.
